I wondered If anyone has tried hypnosis?
What was it for and was it successful?
I have booked in for one session to quit smoking, but wanted to hear others experiences.

I tried it for losing weight. I've lost two stones so far. My hypnotherapist did say he does not like using hypnotherapy for stopping smoking as GPs have far more, really good, alternatives available. He would suggest the hypnotherapy as a support to whatever your GP can offer.0

My hubby had a single session 10 weeks ago to stop smoking and.... not a single cigarette has passed his lips since :T
If you're in Berkshire, we can thoroughly recommend a hypnotist.
Interestingly, in response to arbroath lass, my husband went to our gp who suggested that before he tried any medication to help him stop, try hypnotherapy.

Thank you for your replies. I have tried everything a gp can offer. Though tbh he wasnt very helpful. None are at my surgery re quiting smoking.0

I had hypnotherapy to get over a fear of water - if I was watching a film and a character went under water I would hold my breath and jump out of the chair to get to safety
I had 4 sessions, and have to say that it really has changed my perception. My hypnotherapist gave me 2 CDs of the sessions so I can use it in my own time. Not 100% better but a goodly way there.:hello:

If it helps you fine. If it hasn't you've wasted your money. Everyone's different in how they draw up the willpower to stop.0

I know you've tried the book but the clinics offer a full money back guarantee and there's lots in the uk http://www.allencarrseasyway.co.uk/.
This was my plan B in case the book didn't work for me (but it did!).Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

I had it to help ease stress and IBS symptoms. It was very effective but a little pricey to be doing twice a month especially as I am studying atm.
I think for stopping smoking (where it's a limited period of time) it's well worth a shot. Even if it doesn't work it is an interesting experience and very relaxing.:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
I guess I am trying to figure out if it worth spending 50 pound. I've tried everything else.
I guess if it works I save money for the rest of my life.
If It doesnt I've wasted 50 pound.0 -
I have for weight loss, 5 stones and counting! Best money I ever spent.I thought the same as you OP - if it failed all I would have lost would be some money and time, if it worked I would have a life. Good luck whatever you decide.Sealed Pot Challenge member 28
