Have you checked with your children's school(s) that they'll give you permission to be away in term time?

Yes i have checked. I'm lucky in that pupils are allowed a discretionary 2 weeks off a year.
November wins...a book, a designer handbag (worth £550 :T) and a game. I am now an addict and thank everyone for taking the time to share and post. :D

Mine do too, well 10 days which is technically 2 weeks.
I just couldn't afford the school holiday prices, it's double!

I've always found the word "allowed" patronising in this respect. A teacher, who doesn't know you has given your child permission to take a holiday.

Funny how last year and the year previous when teachers decided to strike our children didn't need permission for an absence.

Yes, well my first choice is http://www.firstchoice.co.uk/holidays/majorca-holidays/playa-de-muro/hotel-lagotel/ with first choice lol
£798 for a week in May 2013 for me and my 2 boys, altough I am still undecided wether to book for 4 then bring someone?
That is subject to me getting a free child place though, if not I have a few others shortlisted so hopefully by the time I book somewhere will have free child place!

    Have you found anywhere yet?

How about Turkey ? Its stil good value and some resorts are not as busy with the old clubbers etc which is what you want when you have kids. Nice beaches and cheap to eat out too. Can get a week for under £800 for 3.

Oh that looks lovely. Excellent reviews on Trip Adisor too. I really like the look of the Hipotels Paraiso Apartments http://www.travelmatch.co.uk/holidays/detail/hipotels-paraiso-apartments-sa-coma.html?alltabs=1&mkwid=3QEc3RPI&pcrid=7539644270&plid=&gclid=CN7jhM3B9a8CFQ8htAodZGH_Eg#state=BwoUKFkwUKARAA&view=description
The AI (with kids club) is coming in over budget at the moment for the time we want to go (at beginning of july this year). I'm wondering whether to wait and see if i can get something as a late deal. The only problem being whether there will be anything suitable available for 3 of us. 99% of the late deals i've seen so far are for 2 or 4 people.

Yes I have my little heart set on it, but can't book until end of June at the earliest, I went into Thomson travel agents yesterday, the man was very helpful, maybe it might be worth you taking trips into travel agents armed with some deals you have found and see what they can do?
Your hotel looks lovely too, hope wherever you go you have a great time!x
