Why won't they leave feedback?!?

Don't push for feedback as it just annoys people.
Sometimes I buy something I am 50/50 about so I won't leave feedback, but if hassled I might leave something you don't want to hear.0 -
As a buyer, I always leave feedback if I am satisfied with my item but don't always receive it as a seller. As far as I am aware, there is no reason for this other than the buyer doesn't bother with feedback.
It is unfair but it is certainly not worth getting annoyed about. Your feedback will soon grow and I personally have never been put off by a seller having low feedback.DFD 2020

For me, receiving feedback is not about building up brownie points, but simply for the buyer to acknowledge that the item has been received and is satisfactory. If the buyer does not do this then I am left in limbo, not knowing whether or not to withdraw funds from my paypal account, just in case I get a 'not satisfied' response a week later.
The bottom line is, that as already said, many people are lazy and don't really care about other people's needs. What is happening to the English Language? These are not isolated, but repeated every day.
'Definate', 'Aswell', 'Rediculous', 'Payed'...and the best of all 'Could Of'. How can anyone think that 'Could Of' can actually mean anything. You may as well write 'Could Zebra' for all the sense it makes.0 -
I think you've misunderstood what feedback is. Why does a buyer have to acknowledge anything? If they haven't received they will let you know, surely you don't want them to let you know that too via feedback?Peter_Lanky wrote: »For me, receiving feedback is not about building up brownie points, but simply for the buyer to acknowledge that the item has been received and is satisfactory. years ago when Ebay was mainly private sellers I think people were keener to leave feedback as it was seen as a private seller/buyer arena.
Now businesses dominate then buyers don't seem to feel the same imperative.
I always leave feedback to acknowledge receipt, but now don't care if someone doesn't leave feedback for me, and if you hassle them then they might put a low mark for comms.0 -
I'm not sure it ever was mainly private sellers, there's always been a big business presence, I think there has been a tightening up of the professionalism and the expectations of buyers that minimises the relevance of feedback. Certainly when the 'fear' factor of sellers being able to leave negatives was removed there was less reason for buyers to leave.years ago when Ebay was mainly private sellers I think people were keener to leave feedback as it was seen as a private seller/buyer arena.
I sell on Amazon too and rarely get any feedback on there and can't think of anywhere else that customers are asked to 'grade' their seller.
As others have said feedback can be useful but it doesn't pay any bills, I'd rather customers showed their satisfaction by buying from me again rather than ever leaving feedback..0 -
Thanks for all the comments,
Yes I have given everyone the relevant feedback.
I want them to leave feedback so that I know they received the item ok and are happy with it. Also, if they aren't happy I'd rather sort out the issue with them instead of just getting a random neg or neutral for an issue easily solved.
Plus, if potential buyers look at my feedback and see that I've sold 5 things but only received feedback for 2... might put them off.
I wont harass them for it though.

I've misunderstood nothing. Sometimes I wonder why I bother commenting on these forums just to get sarcastic responses.I think you've misunderstood what feedback is. There was no sarcasm intended, you seemed to be saying that you expect buyers to leave you feedback and they have a responsibility to do so.Peter_Lanky wrote: »I've misunderstood nothing. That isn't what feedback is for, so you have misunderstood it. A buyer can acknowledge anything or nothing in feedback, they don't owe you anything. Sadly there are too many sellers who think buyers owe them anything other than paying up and treat them like an enemy..0 -
You dont have a "need" for feedback, especially when noone else knows what "need" you have attributed to it. How does a buyer know what you think?Peter_Lanky wrote: »For me, receiving feedback is not about building up brownie points, but simply for the buyer to acknowledge that the item has been received and is satisfactory. Feedback is voluntary and people will deal with it in their own way, which they do not have to explain to others.
Some never leave it.
Some leave it in batches.
Some leave it in bulk every month or two.
Some only leave it after a seller has left it.
You have to remember that a buyer may be refraining from leaving feedback because they were disappointed with the item but dont feel as though it is the sellers fault....so rather than leave bad or vague feedback, they dont leave any.
There is also a good reason for NOT getting feedback......no stars!
Most people do not know the harm that low stars can do to your selling account so the last thing you want is a nice green positive feeback dot but low stars......even a red dot is better than that because at least then you have something to work on.
Dont wish for feedback. You might not like what you get.0
