Why won't they leave feedback?!?

I'm a relatively new seller, but I've sold 5 items so far.

TWO people have left feedback, TWO!!!

I emailed the rest today, two have had their items for ages and they won't leave feedback  One hasn't confirmed it arrived yet, but I messaged him last week and he still won't reply or leave feedback.

I'm just hoping my lowish feedback as a seller isn't putting off future buyers.

Don't know what to do!

I'm afraid the most likely answer is that your buyers are lazy. The danger in chasing lazy buyers for feedback is that leaving feedback for you allows them less time to be lazy, so they end up leaving you negative feedback!

I wouldn't bother chasing - better no feedback than bad feedback. ;)

Not everyone's interested in receiving or leaving FB. I wouldn't worry about it.
Chasing buyers for it isn't a good idea, they'll get a reminder from ebay.

If you've left the buyer feedback already then there isn't any more you can do. They will get a reminder from Ebay at some point that they need to leave for you.

If you haven't left the buyers feedback then do that and it may trigger them to leave yours.

Have you left them feedback though?

Sellers that leave me instant feedback now get that when i receive my item and im happy with it.

If they didnt leave feedback then i have stopped.

I have really considered leaving them lower stars, But i think that maybe a bit harsh after hearing the way its scored.
Doesnt seem to be a fair system.

Rather than just nudge sellers to do the right thing, It would stop them selling. That wont do them or me any favours.

4.8 is a bad score? Come on ebay sort yourselves out.

Score out of 5, 3 should be average.... Not 4.8?

1 or 2 stars should be for bad sellers not a 4 which i think is for good but maybe room for better.

Glad i read posts on here before leaving stars for sellers.

I set up a second account twelve months ago and have sold over 1200 items. My feedback score is 650, despite leaving feedback for all my buyers

It's really frustrating when you are trying to build up a new account

  • I've not sold many items but occasionally I have contacted slow feedbackers. Very polite, lighthearted and nice; checking that the item arrived and they were happy with it, if so would they mind leaving feedback as I'm trying to build up my feedback score and every little helps etc. It has worked every time actually and I've only ever received positives. I can see that it might not always work though!

What score is good or bad should be looked at as a relative figure.

If you take 100 sellers and 99 of them have been given 5 out of 5 on all of the star ratings and one seller has been given 4.8, that seller is below average.
Score out of 5, 3 should be average.... Not 4.8?

But if the large majority of seller have been given 4 or 5 stars, then the average can't possibly be 3.
If out of 1000 sellers, 990 have been given 5* and 10 given 4*, then the average for the group of 1000 is 4.9

People have a life you know, leaving feedback on eBay is rarely top of anyone's priorities. You got paid, you (hopefully) made a profit, so you did OK.

I buy a lot on eBay, but I only periodically get around to leaving feedback, but I get there with it all eventually!

  • Feedback is voluntary - I never chase a buyer for it. I've seen feedback where that has happened

If you get it, good, if you don't, it's really no skin off your nose.
OK it's nice to get a positive acknowledgement of your sale (and I am the worst person for checking my feedback number - daily :o:o ) but in the bigger picture it's not that important.

Some people leave fb in bulk, others don't leave it at all.

Not really anything to worry about :)

I've just started selling too and hoping for fb, however I am very aware that whilst I do eventually leave feedback it isn't always on top of my list of priorities - but as a pp siad rather no feedback then negative (not that I am planning on getting any negatives but you know what I mean)
