Does it really matter in the grand scheme of things. Sorry but it sounds really petty to me reporting someone for that. What harm are they doing?

Oh and I think they will have a pretty good idea who has reported them, as nobody else would know, or actually be bothered about it. Sorry if you dont like my answer, but ebay is full of enough pettyness as it is without adding to it.

I had a difficult item to photograph and when I listed several other people took my photos and used them, some even took my description as well.

The harm was that searching for this item, and there were less than a dozen of them being sold, showed 11 of us with the same photo on a nearly new item. Half of them stated 'this is a photo of the actual item'

so would you trust a seller that lied? I wouldn't. More worryingly though is that as it was on my business account there was no way of knowing I was the genuine seller, so it would have affected my sales- and I draw the line at that.

I reported and all the others disappeared within a couple of hours which left the field clear for me.

Was this using the 'report this item' button on the offending item listing page?
I have 4 sellers using both my photos and full description at the moment, and have reported them using this feature about 5 times in the last 2 weeks and nothing has been done!
I wouldn't normally bother but, they are able to undercut me by a massive amount because they are 'stolen' items.(and before it starts, they are almost certainlly 100% stolen because the other items they are selling are not available for sale to trade or public)
I even tried reporting the countless sellers who are selling these stolen goods to ebay only to be told that they are not breaking any ebay rules!
Any phone contact no for ebay?

Report them to the police and to the place where they were stolen from.

On TV the other day the police had recovered stolen property that was being sold on auction sites.

    What harm does it do?

Firstly, I have spent around £2000 on my own photo studio for my business, another countless amount of hours to perfect my photos, both with the camera and photoshop.

The photos I make, are my copyright, I have paid for them to be made.

Secondly, there are loads of fraudsters stealing photos, and pretending they actually have the item, this way it does make it very unsafe, as the photos are presented as the actual item.

So it can do a lot of harm, specially like me, who sell high value items.

So report it to eBay, because those who steal the photos are most likely fraudsters!

    ?

I actually phoned ebay using a web pin as some of the sellers had the item finishing in less that 24 hours. I tend to phone ebay rather than email as they are often much more willing to listen to reason on the phone.

If you go through the questions there is always a tab for 'contact us' if there isn't just try a different reason for phoning them and keep trying until the number and web pin appears

Someone bought something from me and it didnt fit them. They used my photos to try and sell the same item, and i didnt mind one bit. Not sure how on earth that makes them a liar??? My pictures were taken on a dummy so they item could be pictured clearly, they didnt have the same equipment, so no I think its absoultey fine to use photos in this situation. But I have more important things to worry about so maybe thats just me.

I've had this a couple of times over the years, but in each case the buyer had the polite decency to contact me about it first. I had no problem with it because they were open and honest about it, and in two cases, they actually got a higher price than they won it from my auction.

It seems that many people on MSE seem to forget about polite manners, and the line between morality and moneysaving is somewhat blurred.

    Well said!
I go to a lot of time and effort taking photos, researching the item and then writing up the description.Only to find someone else has then used everything thing i have done to advertise their item.(even more maddening when the item is stolen and on sale for cheaper than mine):(
