Stolen photo

I have found another seller has used my photo of my item without my permission. While there are many of the same item on ebay, I always take a photo of the actual item I am selling so the buyer can see exactly what the item is like. I feel the same picture may confuse some buyers when they see it listed. Should I report this to ebay? Will the other seller know it was me who reported them?

You can ask the seller a question - why not ask them if this is a photo of the exact item and see what they say - your decision can be made according to their response - if they say "actually i have been a bit cheeky here..." you may like to forgive themYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0

Yes, it is the exact photo. I know because it has slight scuffs that's in the exactly the same spots and has a black box which did have my user id in it (now wiped off), which I did to the photo in paint.0 -
read e.bays terms and conditions about uploading images, it allows them to use it as library image.
E.bays terms are longer than Shakespeare's Hamlet !Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Thanks for that. I do wonder why out of all the photos they could've stolen, why did they steal mine when my item has scuffs and there are better photos they could've had.0 -
Thats why its a good idea to watermark your images. That way when fleabay nick your photo to add to their gallery, your 'add' will appear whenever the photo gets used.Never Knowingly Understood.

I had put my user id on the photo but the other seller wiped it off. I didn't do a very good job at watermarking0 -
You can opt out of the ebay catalogue facility
- Go to My eBay and click on Account.
- Click Site Preferences in the left hand margin.
- Locate Selling Preferences and click Show located to the right of Share your photos.
- Click Edit located next to "Consider photos I upload in the listing process for inclusion in the eBay product catalog and other product offerings."
- Uncheck the box to opt-out.
- Click Submit.
There is a link to report the other seller on this page, and it is also prudent to add the seller to your blocked bidder list...

Does it really matter in the grand scheme of things. Sorry but it sounds really petty to me reporting someone for that. What harm are they doing?
Oh and I think they will have a pretty good idea who has reported them, as nobody else would know, or actually be bothered about it. Sorry if you dont like my answer, but ebay is full of enough pettyness as it is without adding to it.Never argue with a fool, they will lower you to their level and then beat you with experience.........!!!:rotfl::T0 -

It makes some buyers suspicious when 2 identical photo's appear from 2 or more sellers.
Been a couple of posts like this on here fairly recently, The buyer asked if they were being scammed.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

If a seller can't be bothered to take their own photos then they may not be bothered to sort out any potential problem.
If the other sellers listing gets removed they probably won't be told why.0
