Dreams bed, flaking faux leather

Hi all,
I have a 2 week old Dreams San Diego brown kingsize TV bed (which they no longer have on their website?!).
When it arrived there was an everso small scuff on the left hand side headboard after it had been installed. We are only talking a couple of mm so I didnt think anything of it.
Today when I was dusting (lightly as you do) over the top and sides of the headboard lots of the faux leather around that area started to flake away. I now have two grey patches where the brown faux leather used to be. One of them is about the size of a 10p coin.
I rang Dreams, as I have the 10 year extended guarantee (not sure if it will be even worth the paper is written on), anyway they passed me through to a company called Homeserve, who will come out next week to "independantly" inspect the bed and report back to Dreams. Not sure how it can be independant if they recommend them, but still.
The bed is only 2 weeks old so this is not caused by wear and tear. I havent used any chemicals or cleaning products on it etc.
I am all ready to send a letter to them, Barclays Finance and Financial Ombudsmen if they try and fob me off.
I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this and whether I am following the right steps?
There is no way they can repair it, without taking the bed to bits.
Cheers

Not much to say really, you seem fully aware of your rights and are prepared to write to higher powers if they fob you off, which they may do.
Only issue I forsee is that your bed seems to have been discontinued from what you say. dont let them fob you off with a lesser replacement. If they cant replace it like for like then push for a better model. They gave you a warranty on a discontinued bed then its their problem.
best of luck, not that i think you need it!0 -
Cheers. Yeah there isnt any other tv beds cheaper. I either want them to collect it and il buy elsewhere or a better model.0

I too had this problem a year ago with a bed I had purchased from Bensons For Beds. Same faux leather brown but without tv design but bed didn't start flaking straight away because I had the bed almost four years. But I noticed little marks material getting soft when cleaning with cloth. My partner made a comment but I didn't take much notice but last year it peeled in four places over head board. I was really disappointed I now have bought a bed from Dreams
same design /style on sale. Which so far only had new bed for 2 1/2 weeks now , so far so good

Thanks MSEAndrea.
I dont need to contact them, they have visited and Dreams have admitted that there is a manufacturing fault with this bed as they have had a lot of returns and subsequently you can no longer purchase it from them.
They are changing the design spec and will have a new version of this bed out in the next few weeks, I am getting a complete replacement from the new batch in the next few weeks.
Hopefully the replacement doesnt peel away either.0 -
Hi I have recently bought this bed. Waiting on it to get delivered! How is the tv for setting up to sky? Or DVD players etc?0
-
Hi Sorry I didnt see this.
I still dont have my replacement bed, you got yours?
The sky box we dont use on it, but to be honest its a rubbish TV, no make or model, I cant get the sky code for the remote.
It also doesnt have a headphone jack on it either.0 -
Hey have just ordered this bed and was wondering what your opinions of it are? Any problems? How good is the TV? Thanks0
-
Hi. Finally got a replacement and its good especially for the money spent. TV is average. No audio out so no headphones or surround sound.0
