mobiles.co.uk and Affordable Mobiles cashback deals
I'm looking at getting a new phone, and seen a few deals offered by mobiles.co.uk and Affordable Mobiles which seem good - however a large amount of cashback claiming is involved.
I've never taken out a mobile contract before, only done sim free rolling ones up til this point - but I was wondering if Affordable Mobiles and mobiles.co.uk are good companies to deal with, and whether they are fine paying cashback?
Looking round the site and on the internet I've seen mixed reviews for both - but if anyone can say what they're like to deal with at the present time for payment of cashback I'd be pleased to hear it.
Thanks for any input.

If you really want to get your cashback do your own research. The answers you're likely to get on here will vary from the excellent to the misleading. Ultimately, it is you who have to understand how it all works and do things properly - and doing things properly is not merely following what the dealer tells you at different times and expecting it to all be hunky-dory. It may well be - but if it isn't you'll end up with problems which are totally avoidable and advice on here which may send you down the wrong path.
As for these two; do NOT use Affordable Mobiles. If you HAVE done any real research you'd struggle to find more than one positive comment on them. I had to threaten to sue from day one and am now doing the same at the end of the final contract I have with them. That is not particularly a problem and I will get paid; but if you really don't know what you're doing and identify problems at a very early stage you are exposing yourself to unnecessary potential problems which aren't so easily fixed - and that applies to ALL cashback dealers, including CPW (Mobiles.co).0 -
Stick with the CPW companies, much safer. Don't give them an inch though!!
I'm confident with them and just received a Galaxy Ace (refurb) this morning via Mobiles.co.uk, one contract ends in a month and this replaces it - happy enough to deal with them as long as they offer value and some decent deals at the minute after what has been a lean spell.
Get it in your head first though, before ordering and be organised.
Good luck.

Thanks for your replies and for the opinions - I understand that it is important to be organised in these situations, shouldn't have any problems there!
Have placed an order with mobiles.co.uk so hopefully that'll be alright without too much drama."Kids respect landlords. I think it's the keys."0 -
The mobiles.co.uk is ok.
Make sure to
1. Make a note of what dated bills to send. Send them within a week or as soon as you can. In case of mistake you will still have some time left. You can send the bill by email or post. With email make sure you get the response back at least to say your email is received within a day or two, if not resend the email. If using the post make sure to use recorded delivery and check after a few days to make sure letter is received.
2. If you are porting the number let mobiles.co.uk know. Otherwise no cashback.
3. Print out terms for your reference.
With mobiles.co.uk you can do most things online. Get use to their account. You will need your order number and email to log in. From here you can port numbers, check cashback such as what bills to send and value, change the address if required and few other things.0 -
Thanks for the advice - exactly what I intended to do. I had read round a few reviews that emailing them the bills can be dodgy as some people say mobiles.co.uk don't receive them or they don't go through - is this still true?
Would be more handy emailing the bills over but wouldn't want to miss out on the cashback for the price of a stamp."Kids respect landlords. I think it's the keys."0 -
We've just finished one 2yr cashback deal with mobiles.co.uk and now just started another so I must be happy with them. Quidco for extra.
tbh I wouldn't go for a sky high deal hoping to remember to get all the redemptions right.
Just make sure you get the claim months right as they send multiple lots of paperwork via post/email/online and they don't always agree with each other.0 -
Two contracts with mobiles.co uk - 500 mins, unltd texts, 750 data for 99p per month - all paid ok so far. Very pleased !!!
Agree with other posters - just make sure you follow all the rules.0 -
Thanks for the replies
Just had the shipment confirmation, phone should be arriving Tuesday so hope it all goes as smoothly as yours!
Went through Topcashback though and hasn't tracked yet though - hopefully it will though.
Just one more thing though - is it a big deal cancelling the gadget cover and insurance? I've read the conditions and it says to either phone or write - but it is a hassle talking to them on the phone about this?"Kids respect landlords. I think it's the keys."0 -

Speaking from my own experience I didn't find it a problem - had four lots to cancel (gadget and Ins) - just rang them, 2 mins call each and had confirmation email next day. My only advice would be to make sure you get some form of written confirmation that they are cancelled0 -
The gadget helpline and insurance can both be cancelled online, though you have to search for the cancel links quite hard. Mine confirmed as cancelled a couple of days later.0
