Yes, they are there to assist the economy (supposedly) but the knock on effect is that they are keeping house prices high.
How come most other major economies lowered rates, was that to "sustain their high house prices high too"?

And yet it was such rocket science that you crashers didn't expect it. You all thought the government would simply stand back and watch the carnage.

Who are you crashers ? I doubt whether anyone would have predicted record low interest rates for over 3 years .....

I haven't said they lowered rates to 'sustain high house prices'.

Ok, that's fine. Best you argue that one with that Devon bloke. He's saying otherwise. Good luck with that, you may need to break it down very simply for him.

Good to see that you've snookered yourself though.

As I said, good to see you snookered yourself quite nicely. Your intelligent and well thought out reply proved that point.

If you read my posts carefully you will see that you have mis-quoted and twisted my comments ..... whether that is deliberate or not only you will know.

Oh it's my fault of course, rather than you're very basic understanding is to blame.

Obviously, every country in the world that has record low interest rates has done it to sustain high house prices.

Can you not see you make no sense at all and contradict yourself?

About time, I've been waiting for some decent falls so I can pick up a cheap btl. Rises are just around the corner.

Year-on-year down 0.5%. The Halifax seems to be a particularly noisy figure on a month-by-month basis at the moment.
