Hi all, today a gas engineer was meant to come out between 8-1 on behalf of EDF, I just phoned them up to ask where he is and was told that on there system there is an engineer booked for today. However the company set to do this did not recieve the order properly, hence nobody turned up.
I have lost £60 wages as was phoned this morning to work and said no as i was expencing the visit.
I was also told the standard compensation is £22, How can i get the £60?
I fully believe that when a company makes mistakes (especially ones with big bucks) should pay for there failures.

For metering work the compensation is set by OFGEM and I thought it was only about £10-12. If you wanted more you would probably have to try and sue them through the small claims court - good luck trying.

Instead of a weekday appointment why didn';t you arrange one for Saturday morning to avoid loss of work?

Dunno, ask your boss. Think there is a nominal recompense for a missed appointment but it's a fixed price

Brit Gas pays about £25 compensation when United Utilities contractors dont turn up for a meter exchange, its very common. It will be up to the customer to comlain and claim the £25 because they wont volunteer the info. Also get ready for the gas meter fitter to say he knocked and got no reply as the standard get-out excuse. If he had been and got no reply he should ve left a card. EDF will be using the same system and contractors.

Companys also dont offer saturday appointments. Job engineer should be able to be tracked via rainbow easy enough
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

We used to for bgas, only until 13:00 though.

I dont understand how people say they loose money, do people not have holiday from work or something?

  • I had one customer who was about to punch me,( he thought I was the gas meter fitter who did nt turn up the previous day ) said he lost £120 in wages when he did nt show up..I agree with you utility_csa, surely they could arrange a late evening or a day off rather than lose money for a meter exchange.I m sure they offer a Saturday morning also

The payment is set by Ofgem in the Guaranteed Standards Of Service (GSOS) and its £22 (increased from the previous level set years ago of £20, last year) and if they fail to make the payment within 10 working days, you get a further £22.

The supplier is covered here as the ceiling is set by Ofgem. If they choose to pay anymore, that's up to them to keep a customer happy but they are under no obligation to do so.
