thanks for this guys - I will need to pay the £14 price for the railcard in July as my trip to London isn't until the end of August, but it will still make me some savings.
How does it work with the London Underground, adding it to your train ticket price when you book your train tickets (we are travelling from Nottingham).
I see I can pick various zones - which ones do I need to include for all the bits which are usually included on the open-top bus tours in the city, I think its all zone 1? So do I just pick the destination of my ticket as Nottingham to London Underground zone 1? And that gets me all the travel I need by tube on both days (ie we're travelling down one day, staying overnight, then travelling home the next evening)?
Sorry, I have no clue about this, have researched day travelcards and oystercards, but hadn't even considered that I could sort it all out, with a railcard discount, on the East Midlands trains website.0 -

Get a zones 1-2 travelcard included thats the whole of central London included - although not open top buses.0 -
Here's a map of the zones http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/tube-dlr-trams-and-train-travelcard-zones-map.pdf
I think we stayed within zone 1 on our trip to London, but the travelcard for zones 1-2 costs the same as the zone 1 I think? http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/14416.aspx52% tight0 -
We got on a double decker bus (number 9, we got it at trafalgar Sq.) and that took us on a tour to the natural history museum, with the conductor doing a commentary
It was included in the travelcard. Not as good as an open top tour, but it was a nice little extra for us as part of our day trip and it was included in the travelcard.52% tight0 -

When buying zones, they only come as 1-2, 1-4 or 1-6.0 -
You can get a discount on a 1 day travelcard with the F&F railcard but only a zone 1-6 one bought from a National Rail station. A zone 1-2, off-peak travelcard for one adult and 1 child would cost £10.20, assuming the child had to pay, over 10 under 16. A zone 1-6 for 1ad+1ch would be £11.70, reduced to £7.60 with F&F discount.0

On the EM site journey planner enter from Wimbledon then type lon into the to box and scroll down to "London Underground z1-6" and your dates, number of adults and children add F&F railcard, click book now and select the off peak day travelcard option. You will have to do this for each day you are in London, i.e. out and return the same day and same again for the next day etc.
It is not allowing dates after early August but do a dummy run for another date earlier to see how it works. Off peak is after 10 but all day weekends. No need to go anywhere near Wimbledon to use this ticket.0 -
Did anyone get an email confirmation or do you just have to wait to see if your card arrives on time.0

No email confirmation - but on the screen at the end of registration it did say it should be with you by the end of May.0
