Me too - the chemicals in Fairy and the other conventional washing up liquids stay in the environment for scary amounts of time and cause all manner of problems in our food. It surprises me that not everyone has made the switch, since there's no difference in cleaning power at all.0 -
Its true that Fairy is kinder to your hands than some other brands (ahh noy quite as soft as your face!) but I have switched to the enviromentally friendly Ecover which is good, but it has a large hole and your have to be careful not to squirt too much!!0

I do not do any washing up due to dishwasher and other people 'enjoying' it - yes, strange I know, but I am rather obsessed with the cleanliness of my car and have to lug a load of revolting teenagers round constantly. I find that Fairy in water is amazing at cleaning greasey finger prints off the plastic interior but also, used neat does a great job of getting rid of grease on the windscreen, helping the windscreen wipers to get rid of the water. However, would use in conjunction with vinegar on the windscreen for a properly clean finish!
Apparently those who do the washing up are rather religious and use Fairy and the switch to Ecover really didn't work for them.
Father on the other hand uses huge bottles of anemically scented cheap liquid and easily gets through two in a week.
Fairyconomy or not? You decide but from an unbiassed perspective Fairy wins it for me!0 -

A true money saver wont squirt too much more than once!
I've tried supermarkets own brands, Morning Fresh and various others but always come back to Fairy. Another one to watch out for is concentrated fabric conditioner- make sure you don't end up using same amount as you do with the original.
Likewise washing powder tablets- yes ok maybe slightly less messy but more expensive than good old powder.
Have to say that where fabric conditioner is concerned , own brands appear just as good to me.0 -
Clever design of the bottle ensures you ALWAYS squirt too much into the pan, thereby increasing the usage.0

I have been a hardened (Should that be softened
) Fairy Liquid user for years; I have tried various own brands and just feel they are not as good. Strangely my compromise is Tesco value wul at 17p (not their own brand 49p) and I water down my Fairy with this (I think a prev poster suggested water) This works well for me.
I am probably a sucker but I DO believe it is better and works well rubbed onto grease spots on clothes prior to washing, so despite efforts (I cannot bear lemon smelling detergents!) I just cannot give up the Fairy Liquid completely. (must say I like the teaspoon measurement idea)0 -
I can't comment on its ability to clean plates as I have a dishwasher, but I use fairy for siliconing, and would not consider a cheaper alternative. When in the past we had a Tesco own brand WUL, at home I had to use half the bottle to get the correct consistancy. A few squirts of my fairy though is normally enough. This boy is not for turning, Fairy all the way.:rolleyes:I had a plan..........its here somewhere.0

"For hands that are softer, da da da (??), try mild green Fairy Liquid!

I think something's missing in the middle.
