Me and my fiancee have finally set a date

Me and my fiancee got engaged last year and we have finally set a date for April next year (26th/27th), however we are looking at doing it abroad as we want a beach wedding and nice weather, where would be nice sunny weather at this time of year? We would only be able to do Europe as we cant ask family and friends to fork out for further a field.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hummmmm if you are only looking at Europe there is every chance the weather will be crap at that time of year. Then again it could be crap where ever you go I guess.

I would say one of the Canaries would be a safe bet. Or somewhere south around the Med - southern Spain, Italy, south of France.

Cyprus isn't bad but, with one exception I know of, they don't normally allow weddings actually on the sand. There are plenty of seafront hotels that do weddings as close as you can possibly get to it though.

Google "Cyprus Weddings" for more info.

I was actually originally thinking Canary Islands, however apparently you cant actually get married there!? only renew your wedding vows!

You shouldn't really ask people to fork out for anywhere abroad.

What's wrong with a normal wedding somewhere near where you and your friends and family actually live?

^^What I meant by that was we wouldn't be able to afford to pay for everyone to go further than Europe, as we wouldn't expect people to pay for themselves! The main reason we do not want it here in the UK is for the weather, and we would love the type of photos you get with a wedding abroad.

You can't; the residency requirement is 40 days (I got married in France last year, but have lived here since 2008! Oh, and for the record, it rained :p).

You may have better luck with Italy OP; I know a few Brits who aren't residents but who have married there.

We got married in the UK. It was 32°C on the day.

Like I said, try Cyprus. There is no residency requirement.

If this is the main reason, don't get your hopes up too much as you're not guaranteed those photos anywhere. I know one girl who got rained on in the Carribbean!

Also, those beautiful beach pictures don't show you the sunbathing 20stone German bloke in a thong sprawled out 10 feet away! You can't close most beaches for a wedding so you end up saying your vows in front of loads of topless women, sunburnt blokes and kids making sandcastles.
  • The canary islands would be most likely to have decent weather. Though of course it cant be guaranteed anywhere. Have fun planning it all.
