How Much Does Your Nusery Charge?

Just trying to work out how much it would cost to put a 9 month baby into nusery whilst mum goes back to work full-time? Mother only earns just £880 per month and we are trying to work out how much of that money will go towards nursery cost. Other options are to stay home or work part-time

Please tell me how much you pay and for how many days nursery? This is just to give us a rough estimate/

Thanks a Lot

£30.50 per day but we decided mum may as well not work once all the costs are taken into account. Mum is much happier now !

£38 per day for an under 2 in London (but that's cheap). Don't bother with thinking about full time - it is too stressful for both mum, dad and baby! And you will miss out on so much. Personally, two days per week of work is the perfect balance for me. Also take into account tax credits. They'll let you ring up and try various incomes to see how it will affect your payment (eg full time, part time, no work for mum). Might change things?

    Hi OP,

Not sure which part of the country you are in?

I am in cental London and pay £50 a day, inclusive of fresh cooked food and nappies etc. MY Lo does 2 days a week which is fine for both of us.

So I starve my LO the night before, so he eats double portions of everthing whilst he is there and we tell him to do all his good nappies there too:D

I was paying £25 a day last year, my prev nursery was £28 a day for 8-5.30 in Yorkshire.

Have a play with this website www.entitledto.co.uk to see if you get help with childcare costs or look into childcare vouchers.

I'm in Bucks.... I pay £45 a day (If I wanted to I could put DS in 8.00am to 6.00pm) it includes Breakfast, lunch, Tea (all freshly cooked on the premises) 2 fruit snack times, Nappies, Sun cream, christmas pressie from Santa, french lessons, Gymboree once a week etc

Although he has a whale of a time on the 3 days he goes... I am looking forward to this summer when he leaves... I'll be £500 a month better off (and that's with the gov subsidies!) :)

The local ones here are between £30 - £35 per day for under 2s ( 8am - 6pm) this includes food / snacks / drinks but not nappies.
  • Why not also consider a childminder for around £3 per hour, dependant on your area. Your little one will get more consistent attention. My wife has been childminding for almost 5 years, and she has charges in her care about to start school in September that she has had since 9 months old. The children are now almost a part of our family.

An alternative choice could be that you register as a childminder and earn money from your own home if you can not afford to give up working. This is what my wife did and provides for our holidays. 2 weeks in Cuba all inclusive coming up!

    Good luck whatever you decide.

Give me the boy until he's seven and i'll give you the man.
