    Hello all!

We got our Secret Santa info for work today and I have to say it's left me feeling a bit deflated. I had loads of ideas buzzing around my head in case I got a certain person but we've been told to take a gift that could be suitable for anyone, we're not buying for a specific person like normal.

Well, we have men and women aged from 20yrs - 60+yrs and from all backgrounds so it's really vague. Want to be a bit more unique than something obvious like wine/chocs/random silly toy like a water pistol etc. and am thinking about a puzzle of some sort as that's kind of part of our job - maybe a maze puzzle or those metal puzzles you sometimes get in a cracker, something that will occupy people at the meal.

ETA: Just found Alien drop spaceship game on Amazon, a cheaper version of kerplunk http://www.amazon.co.uk/A-to-Z-Alien-Spaceship/dp/B0057J2CUK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1353415317&sr=8-2 might get that and have done with. What do you all think?
  • charliemaine1bee-I loved the boden catalogue last year that had a page of sticky tags in it, I actually ran out of tags on christmas eve so they were actually very handy lol! Also cannot afford to actually buy anything from there lol!

Yesterday we went on a wrapping paper spree as I didnt have as much paper as I thought, only had 2 rolls of Ben 10, 3 half used rolls and 2 rolls from HB! Doesnt go far here lol. I think Home Bargains 2 for £1 rolls are brilliant, the paper is actually really thick and you get 6m per roll! Also got a nice roll for £1.50 from Asda, feels quite thin but its longer so good for bigger presents. Popped to Lidl too and after walking around for ages I finally spotted the cellophane! It looked like wrapping paper as the patterned ones were on top so nearly missed it lol. Got 2 patterned rolls and 2 plain plus some cute packs of wooden shapes Im going to tie to tags. Does anyone just wrap presents and stick a tag on, no fancy wrapping? Last year i tried to do it all pretty but tags, ribbons and bows were falling off all over the place. :rotfl:Just cant keep it looking nice especially after transporting them to peoples houses! Ive bought bows again and have ribbon so will try again and see what happens! Still sticking with mainly sticker tags though as I have too many presents to wrap and if tags fell off it would be a nightmare! :D

They had the puzzle balls down to £5.99 on play the other day.. these http://www.play.com/Gadgets/Gadgets/4-/28735359/Large-Maze-Ball/Product.html?searchstring=maze+ball&searchsource=0&searchtype=allproducts&urlrefer=search don't know your budget though

    I feel really sick.

I knocked my hand a while ago, and have had a really sore knuckle for about 6 weeks. I know I should go to the doctors, but I feel a bit daft going for poorly finger.

Anyway, I stupidly just looked my symptoms up on google, and I may have torn the ligaments. For some reason this has made me feel physically sick. I don't know why , as I am not squeamish at all.

    Blo0dy google.

OMO you have broken rule 1: NEVER google your symptoms! You will always be dying or have the beginning of a horrific condition if you google it!

But please do get down to the Doctors you can do alot of damage to hands without even realising and we need you to be fighting fit, December is nearly upon us!
  • ugh what a few weeks! I had all good intentions of catching up on this thread but its now up to over 60 pages! so please excuse me if i bail on that one!

I've had a really crappy last week or so, firstly the docs told me that my blood pressure was very high, so they switched the pill i'm on and send me foe an ecg and blood tests as they were concerend my kindeys could be damaged, the bloods were due back friday and they said they would only call if there was a problem, so i'm assuing all is good with that..phew. Then on friday we had a call to say one of my good friends brohers had been knocked over when her was cycling and so sadly passed away, and then to top it off we had to have our dog put to sleep yesterday..she was 11 and it was goign to cost a small fortune (£600) to have tests done to find out what was wrong, and then the costs of an operation and stay at the vets on top, what with having 2 children and christmas just around the corner we made the heartbreaking decision to put her to sleep. I feel a bit guilty we didnt try to save her, but its such a lot of money, and there was no assurance that she would actually live another 6 months after the op anyway.
oh my....will be very glad when this weeks over!
On the bright side we booked FREE tickets to see Father Christmas at The Eden Project, my daughter is in the beavers and they have a free weekend for all scouts and Guides (etc) on 30th Nov-2nd Dec so we are going then. The santa 'experiance' looks fab and if its anything like their halloween things they do it will be excellent. If any of you are local to Eden, and have a pass (they are also doing the locals passes again for a short period £7.50 per person pe year) i would recommend booking, its all free! will report back and let you what its like, we are going on sat 1st dec, we thought we would go tree shopping on sunday too! I cant wait

Love and hugs to anyone who has had a rough time (appologies i'm not reading 60+pages as you lots all chat so much!) and also Love and Hugs to anyone with new additions!
    xx

I can never keep up with this thread :) Am loving the little elf door though and am now tempted by xmas pudding hats! I've been annoyingly busy the last week and am really behind on the pressie shopping - need to think what to get my mum and dad as well. I usually either have some kind of idea by now or I do them a hamper of something - but struggling for ideas and I'm travelling down to see them on the train this year so has to be something smallish and light which rules out most hampers :( Suggestions gratefully received!

    LOVE YOUR ELF!!

Own My Own Don't feel daft remember my bad toe? its been 6 weeks since I hurt it, I went to A&E after 2 weeks and felt like a fraud when nothing was shown as broken but it still hurts and is still numb! I am definitely debating going to see the GP just to check nothing has been missed.
I broke my finger when I was 11 and now have arthritis in it (and im not quite 28!!) all because I didn't go and get it strapped up at all.
If in doubt go see someone about it - don't want to seem scare mongering as i just read that back and it sounds so mean lol but I just mean that GP's and people are there for a reason, dont ever feel you aren't worthy of their time or that someone else is more important.

Remember how for about 6 months I have been awaiting free delivery with Disney store? If you have a rewards account you can get free delivery yay finally :j
I "borrowed" money from a non christmassy pot and got hubby and i the mugs I wanted and as personalisation was reduced to £1 i got them personalised with mummy & daddy too and a 2012 bauble as i want to collect them every year.
the free personalisation and free delivery codes dont work together by the way for anyone who see's that.
I am so happy, it was awful of me to spend £29 that I really didn't have to spend BUT how could i not ;)

What have you all done to me :rotfl::rotfl:

I have spent the last 2 hours buying an elf, listing all the things we can do, typing up an announcement letter and looking for passport (the one on organisedchristmas is great but expiry date is 2011)

I'm looking forward to trying something new, I just hope hubby will remember to continue it over the weekend I'm working away in December

Michael Buble just arrived in my office. :j

Okay, not him but the new deluxe special edition updated Christmas Album from Amazon. :D To my shame I never got around to buying his crimbo CD before now, but I do have lots and lots of other ones.

PS. It's got 4 extra songs.
