Getting there quickly - I wondered if the lights were for Diwali but boss lady said there was a xmas tree lit up in the window and a flashing snowman!
I too track Santa (we're both 39). When I lived at home I always used to put out a drink and mince pies for Santa (I moved out when I was 33). My sis (she was 18 at the time) once put out brandy and Santa downed it in one thinking it was the traditional sherry.
my DAB radio showed SmoothXmas but the station's not available, will have to try online.0 -
Hello lovelies!
What was the number to ring about cancelling Hotel Chocolat caus I've not done it yet and after seeing some of Thorntons Christmas range this year Hotel Chocolat are looking like a right rip off, Plus £20 a month for some chocs is wayyy too much.0 -

Sugar spun that did make me chuckle "Santa scratching his bum" ha ha .
Linky sounds just perfect and if it got a thumbs up from your DS it must be something he feels he can cope with:) We will of course need photos!
AAAB I'm glad you've managed to get your house back to how you like it:) and hubby's leave has worked out just perfectly for you. Couple of "safe" weeks away leaving you to do your final touches in peace and then be back in time for the festive fun- just perfect:)
Weeclick I'm of no help what so ever, I love all sorts of decorations I've seen ones I love in Asda, tesco, sainsburys ,wilkinsons, poundshop, poundland, home bargains, local shops, markets, John Lewis, house of Fraser , boots etc
But have little touches around the house, through the handles of kitchen cupboards, door handles, vases filled with baubles, candles large baubles on ribbon hanging from the ceiling and lots and lots of fairy lights:) xThe secret of Christmas
It's not the things you do at Christmastime

NOT TO HAVE A CHRISTMAS TREE this year.
I have lots of ornamental Christmas trees, which I normally dot round the house. This year I am going to put them all on the unit in the lounge, and make a forest. I also have a number of reindeer that I am going to put in the forest.
I have a selection of light up trees, mirror trees, painted wooden trees and candle trees.
It looks great in my head, I just hope it looks as good when it is up, as I can't go back now ds has voted.
Amazing, I have had the same idea! I got rid of the artificial one that I have had for years (my stepmum brought it with her when she married my dad which was in 1983 and I acquired it after I'd left home so about time really) and wasn't sure what to do this year. I have a 2ft prelit one that was a cheapie from Woolies a couple of years ago and I've decided to use a small table in the living room and have that on it plus a couple more various styles lit and unlit to make my own forest too!
I think it will look fab! Yours and mine both!0 -
weeclick Homebase have some lovely stuff this year, they have pastel colours and brights0

First time I've had time to sit down and catch up with the forums since Thursday, and my, haven't you all been busy elves?
I have just read through the 27 pages you lot have nattered your way through, great lunch time read
I have enjoyed seeing all the pictures and reading all your fab ideas, it is so nice to be in the company of Christmas lovers, not grinches
Couldn't see this posted - a couple of lovely Christmas silicon baking moulds on offer in Lidl from next Monday:

Think I will grab one of each
The organza bags I ordered from eBay for mine and Mr Buffy's advent calendars have arrived today. I bought them in six different colours which will look lovely all mixed up in the seagrass baskets we have bought to put the bags under the tree in. I need to make numbered labels for them all - I used to do a lot of crafty stuff especially cards and scrapbooking so I have plenty of bits and pieces to make tags with.
Last weekend I dug out the Christmas cards I bought in January, think I have plenty so no need to buy any this side of ChristmasHave plenty of wrapping paper and tags too, the joys of the January sales hey
I am on the lookout for some coloured snow spray if there is such a thing? I have found someone on eBay selling gold and silver snow spray, but ideally I would like some red or green spray. I am sure I have seen some in the past, but have no idea where. It is for using with stencils on the windows, so must only be temporary as it needs to be cleaned off on January 6th! If anyone has any ideas that would be fab - Cambridge does not have a huge number of the bargain shops, Huntingdon/St Neots/Royston are all better for those. Obviously I don't want to pay a fortune for it and ideally would prefer to buy in person rather than online due to the postage costs.DFW no.554 - Proud to be dealing with my debts :TDAVID TENNANT CAN PROBE ME WITH HIS SONIC SCREWDRIVER ANYTIME...:AFLYING THE FLAG FOR THE CAMBRIDGE BOOTS TARTS :happyhear0 -
Bit of mini shopping spree to report from my lunch hour.
Ordered Hubby a £10 Vue giftcard as one of his advent pressies (I throw a couple in each year to go with the chocs) so we can go and see Nativity 2 one Orange Wed in December. Also got him some smellies for his stocking using B00ts points. They're doing original source shower gels £1 each. Got him chocolate n mint and mint n tree tea. The Choc and Mint one smells gorgeous if anyone is doing a chocolate themed hamper. Ordered a T-shirt from Play.com, bought him some Simpsons socks from Poundland/world (not sure which £1 shop we've got TBH) and a curry recipe book. I'm going to create a hamper based around the curry book - spices, sauces, apron etc. He's started to be a bit more adventurous with his cooking so just thought I'd give him a push in the right direction.
Oh and booked a table for the travelz00 voucher for January (offer not available between 1st Dec-6th Jan) Well, there's often a bit of a dip in mood once the lights/decs come down so thought this would extend the xmassy feel for a few days more!0
