Been to lidl this morning, picked up 20 bars of chocolate, no restrictions, but the old lady behind was tutting at me & said rather loudly to her friend that it was no wonder children these days were so overweight, well i saw red, I told her very firmly that the chocolate was for me to make a selection of christmas gifts, homemade with love! I also asked if she thought my children looked overweight, she blushed & said no not at all, I then told her that my children were polite, well mannered unlike her, and maybe she should eat chocolate occassionally to sweeten her up GRRR! I know I probably made a bit of an idiot of myself but the cheek of some people makes me so angry. The cashier said I had made her week!
Anyway, after driving home & calming down, I now have a fridge full of trials: shotglass lollipops (with crushed candy cane) raisen & mixed nut slabs, and three differently decorated slabs! And I still have 15 bars left, maybe I will give them to my kids for there tea lol

This thread moves so fast! Can reply more on the netbook as my predictive text on my tablet is sometimes rather strange :rotfl:
OMO - I thought anyone who still believes can still hear the bell? and only non believers can't? I am well and truly a believer but if ringing gets too much I will send a note from the elves to say they are getting headaches from all the bell ringing
The polar express tickets I printed were just from googling polar express tickets. I google everything then save and print. DH was actually very impressed when I ran throught our "elf itinerary" I have a whole folder with all corresponding print outs and activities
Haven't bothered with Lidl chocolate this year, I live directly opposite and it was very busy at 8am. I did make chocolate slabs last year and they were well received by everyone but this year I am doing jelly beans (poundland) in cello cones with a candy cane attatched for teachers etc.
Have a good evening everyone and look out for the coca cola add (Mil did not look impressed when I pointed out it would be shown for the first time today, she said "but it's ages until christmas")0 -
thanks Gettingtherequickly re the Olympics DVD, thats a pretty good price, I only know cos Ive been stalking it for months as I really really would like it for Christmas, its £20 on Amazon as well, so far the absolute best price is £18.99 at S'burys but I think that offer may have finished now
Pinksteps glad you ok, am loving the hot pink paint, go you! :beer:0 -

Checked out B&Q's Christmas display last week and was very disappointed. The decorations didn't say 'buy me' and the trees looked sparse. Top marks to The Range and individual garden centres which seem to make theirs look more Christmassy. Will try Homebase in the next week or two.
I meet my friend for coffee each week and we talk about Christmas and where we've seen the best offers. Her husband is even more bah humbug than mine although if I don't move my (M&S) musical christmas tree tin off the dining table and stop winding it up then he's probably gonna strangle me:rotfl:
imo Homebase has the loveliest things this year! quite a bit of old fashioned retro stuff - lots of the pastel pinks/blues along with whites, silvers and blues as well as usual red and gold - they have a range of snow covered trees which are half price, I got the sapling which is 9.99 from 19.99, but they do have 15% off today - not sure if it's all weekend? they have gorgeous woodland animals - foxes, squirrels, beautiful reindeer and snowmen - in the sort of fuzzy white covering with glitter in it? I got the grazing reindeer to go with the snow covered small tree, and hubby got me the other reindeer today while it was 15% off (8.99 full price). They have tubes of sleigh bells - one lovely tube in blues which I loved for 2.99 full price, well worth a look, Ive not seen stuff as lovely there since my kids were babies!0 -

Most places it about £20 - I'm contemplating it for my dad
I too bought choc from lidl todayjust potted up mint jelly so another thing off the hamper list
Can't decide how to package stuff this year - I was going to make the sledges from cardboard but they will need to be pretty big (as most are for couples so there is joint food stuff and then individual presents too... So not too sure yet on what to do. For family just having jam etc I'm using bags from ikea
This is the kind of contents:
Jam
Marmalade
Chilli jam
Christmas chutney
Mint jelly
Charity wristband keyring
2x pots of gold
Then two sets of single presents
Eg hi viz top, heart rate monitor, cycling routes book, another book
And second set being a sleep well kit (relaxing music, Avon sleep therapy, journal for writing worries down, herbal sleep stuff and herbal teas)
So will end up being quite a lot of stuff... And not much space in a sleigh!

Don't forget the coca cola advert is showing tonight during X factor. It always signals the start of Christmas for me :-)0

omo,
i cant find that name on facebook. maybe you can pm me a link.
Have doneomo
also i am still writing recipes for a possible food blog - fingers crossed. I notice you have really good labels on your makes. How did you make the labels? - you seem to have some back grounds and then some printed stuff? what font did you use for printing?
Thanks
RB
Dd wrote the tags. I will ask her what she used. They are printed on thin card. I then cut them out and stuck them on backing card.
The couple that I did, where done on Word.
I am in the process of making some tubes for sweets, which I will post later.
The Polar Express has just started for anyone who has forgotten in the last hour.:rotfl:0 -
OMO,

Cheers

OMG Pinknfluffy!!! *sends you a high 5* what a bloody nerve that woman had! and good for you for saying what you did, if Id been near you in the queue Id have backed you up and said something too, I just cant stand people who make sanctimonious self righteous comments without knowing the facts, it's your business what you are doing with it!
You will like this one too I think ....walked to supermarket this afternoon for a few bits and could hear somebody creating loudly in one of the aisles, and was a woman with her husband and a child (looking mortified) in the crisp aisle, she was ranting to nobody in particular about the evils of fried potato products and going on about 'it's all rubbish!' 'the worst thing you could eat!etc (not sure what she was doing in that aisle in that case!) anyway I waited until there was a pause, very politely said 'excuse me' she whipped round and I said' may I just -' and reached over her shoulder and picked up the hugest bag of Monster Munch/evil devil food ... I couldnt help myself!
I was dying for her to say something but she just spluttered at me - I was soooo temptd to open the bag and start eating them right there in the aisle! why do people think they have the right to lecture everyone!? Im a little size 8 so maybe she thought she might be onto a loser!
I wouldnt dream of making comments about what people may or may not have in their basket at supermarkets, if they start making comments about other people they deserve all they get!0 -
