Fab idea, I'm sure I've seen these in HB or B&M's before too. The bump-it things a good idea too. I think Boots do them so will try and have a look this weekend.

I'm hoping I might just be able to gather all the things together and wrap them up with cellophane and a pretty bow. When I've had a go at hampers in the past I found it was the boxes that were the most expensive bit.

Just bought a Cath Kidston mug for another pressie. Going to fill it with hot choc sachets and marshmallows then it will go perfectly with the C.K diary I bought a few weeks ago.

I was feeling very organised til I started reading posts on here from people who have long finished their xmas shopping!

You should def put a wig in it

Ive made a giant crunchy for OH (anniversary present for today) - twice ive tried to temper the chocolate but just cant get it right :( but the toffee cinder is really easy, cheap and nice! Its off the pimp that snack website which I currently love! are there any tips on tempering - if tried different methods, I have a thermometer and it just isnt happening *stomp* :(

On the upside mums apron is nearly done :D

Also to those talking about lush massage bars earlier - are they suitable for fragile skin? Was going to get OH grandad some massage oil to go with home made neck wrap, but the bars sound better - just worried incase they are difficult to "work in" to start with if they are bars?

The massage bars are really simple to use and they do just melt into the skin and give a lovely oil that massages in but doesnt leave the skin greasy afterwards. My husband has a very manual job and he swears that they help his back when it is playing up !
  • Well I'm sat here watching the end of Miracle In Manhattan on Christmas24...

Now none of my housework has been done and I'm a blubbering mess grrr!!!

Had a good day in b&m yesterday, we didn't get done at the in laws until 6.30pm and thought it was too late but was sooo pleased when I looked it up online quickly before heading home and its open till 8pm!

Managed to get a few Christmas bits, really wish we had one in Bournemouth.

    Very Christmassy today :)
    Christmas Crazy :rotfl:

Love de-cluttering, to the point I don't really own much anymore. :rotfl:

2014 IS going to be a good year :j

Has anyone got any fool-proof tips for chocolate slabs please? Also, if someone has wrapped in cellophane, could you post a piccie please so I can see what it looks like??? I have to go and do the weekly shop soon (yawn) but thinking of extending it by going into town for a nosey round home bargains and B&M...oh what to do?

As for the 'fat hair' hamper, I love dry shampoo as a standby for 'those' days. I'm pretty sure that you can get one now that volumises the hair too. Think I saw one in Superdrug the other day.

Got handed my notice at work yesterday. New manager has decided to make 3 of us redundant and were all working mums who can't be as flexible as the teenage gimps! It's going to make things really tight for us. I'm hoping I won't be out of work long, but we have to prepare for the worst. My dh has been amazing over it trying to reassure me we can manage etc but I feel so guilty that my family are going to have to make such drastic cut backs. It has well and truly demolished my christmas spirit. But on a positive note I guess today will be my last sat having to work a 9 hr shift for a while :-(

So sorry to hear this! (((HUGS)))

But if it's any kind of consolation, I had to give up work 14 months ago due to my health at the time and we had no idea how we would manage as we were already scrimping by each month and we have, Some months I don't know how we do it but we are £500 down each month and we make things work.
Sometimes it's a little depressing when we can't just go out and spend some money shopping or have a take away when we feel like it and we have had to cut back EVERYWHERE which can make you feel a little hard done by at times but honestly we are both so much happier now!
I will be looking to go back to work when our baby is a year old as hopefully my health will have improved enough by then also.
I know sometimes you can feel guilty for letting your OH/kids down because I do feel like that especially birthdays and christmas etc but it's not your fault that you are loosing your job so dont blame yourself!
Instead why not think on the bright side? more time to spend making homemade free/cheap presents, planning free days out and think of them saturdays on the lead up to christmas you can spend with your family.
    It'll all work out :)

Now that DH has a job, we've decided we're going to go slightly mad for xmas as the kids have had 2 yrs of being told everything is too expensive. So we're getting DS Skylanders, and I now have to pay attention to all the stuff I have previously ignored, as I know absolutely NOTHING about it!
