    Xmas Saver!
Got handed my notice at work yesterday. New manager has decided to make 3 of us redundant and were all working mums who can't be as flexible as the teenage gimps! It's going to make things really tight for us. I'm hoping I won't be out of work long, but we have to prepare for the worst. My dh has been amazing over it trying to reassure me we can manage etc but I feel so guilty that my family are going to have to make such drastic cut backs. It has well and truly demolished my christmas spirit. But on a positive note I guess today will be my last sat having to work a 9 hr shift for a while :-(

I am sorry to hear that. But I am a true believer in 'things happen for a reason' . You may not know what that reason is right now, but one day it will come to you.

I know that this I little or no comfort when things first happen, but hopefully soon it will be.

Sorry to hear your new pinknfluffy, but glad you've got a supportive DH. I hope you can find something else quickly.
With the halloween party over it's time to start thinking about what I'm making for hampers so I shall spend a delicious weekend thinking about fudge and biscotti! Although really I'd like to make some stuff now so need things which will freeze.

    Hi everyone!

It's nice to find so many people already in the xmas spirit. Everyone around me is very bah humbug!

I just want to pick your brains. I'm trying to make a small hamper based on "fat hair". It's for someone who is always say she wants "fat hair" because hers is so flat. I've just ordered some Samy Fat Hair shampoo, conditioner and hair spray from superdrug (on offer if anyone is interested, better than half price, normally retails about £6-£7 a bottle!). I'm also going to get a backcombing brush but has anyone any other ideas?

I've never done a proper hamper before but I thought it would be a nice way of wrapping them, and all the pictures on here inspired me too. Going to try and get hold of some cellophane from somewhere, I'm hoping I can buy it off eBay.
  • lexilex that sounds really lovely :) I haven't heard of 'fat hair' and you made me chuckle! I'm probably barking up the wrong tree (as your hamper sounds v elegant) but to bulk it out you could add hair extention thingies, a wig(joke one) or even a lovely hat (to hide the flat hair!!!) HTH but I'm sure everyone else will come up with some more helpful ideas! lol x

There are plenty of volumizing products you could have a look at. I eill ask my sister what she uses she too has the 'flat hair'!
What about accessories? Clips, hairbands? How old is the recipient?
They have also brought out new rollers called sleep in rollers, they are amazing! In before bed and volume in the morning! Will look for a link for you.

They arnt as cheap as I remember, buy depending on where you are I know Sally's the hairdressing wholesalers who have high street shops too sell them in smaller packs.

EDIT AGAINNNNNN if you look through the items which I didn't they do a pack of 10 for 9£ Hth!
  • You should def put a wig in it

Ive made a giant crunchy for OH (anniversary present for today) - twice ive tried to temper the chocolate but just cant get it right :( but the toffee cinder is really easy, cheap and nice! Its off the pimp that snack website which I currently love! are there any tips on tempering - if tried different methods, I have a thermometer and it just isnt happening *stomp* :(

On the upside mums apron is nearly done :D

Also to those talking about lush massage bars earlier - are they suitable for fragile skin? Was going to get OH grandad some massage oil to go with home made neck wrap, but the bars sound better - just worried incase they are difficult to "work in" to start with if they are bars?
