    Hi all,
I have been reading lots but not posted yet. I always get the kids new pjs for christmas eve and really like your idea of making it all into a hamper. Any ideas where to get nice boxes from to make them and what else does everyone put in? DD is 6 and DS is 5. I was thinking: pjs, choc, dvd, i have picked up things like santa and snowman faces and when you bang them, they flash. More tips please. I'm getting really excited and full of a cold today, but you lot are making me feel fuzzy and christmassy!

    Snowman Soup

    Reindeer Food

    A colouring book and pens

They are lists on here somewhere. I will have a dig and see what I can find.

    EDIT - Found this post.

hello hope you don't mind me jumping in, have been reading this for a while but never posted. was wondering if you lovely people could help me. i need a gift for my sil and bil can be joint or separate. Also need a present for my 14 year old cousin?

Was thinking of maybe a movie night hamper. But what if i get dvds the already have? What should i put in them.

    thank you.:xmastree:

For a movie night hamper if you aren't sure if they have the DVD's or not I would recommend doing a love film voucher or maybe blockbusters (but check there is one near them) or you could put cinema vouchers in.
If you REALLY want to put a DVD in which I did with my Mum last year then I'd go for something a little different. I.e my cousin I got Pretty In Pink, she is 21 and I knew the chances were she wouldn't have seen it but would still enjoy it. Or go for a Christmas classic like Scrooged with Bill Murray, or an older Christmas film. I find people are more likely to have the modern films on their shelves like Elf but less likely to have the older ones. Depending on their love of Christmas of course LOL. Vouchers are definitely a safe bet. Though I understand can seem a little "boring" you could put them in the hamper in a different way i.e in a giant homemade cracker or something to make it a bit more exciting?

On a separate note I am feeling a bit foggy headed today but need to get my Tesco order done - Im buying a few bits for my Christmas store cupboard using vouchers and I have some stuff in my basket such as
    Turkey
    Yule log
    frozen roast pots
    frozen swede & carrots
    frozen yorky puds
    2 x selection boxes
    2 x advent calendars
    festive friends
    candy canes
    sausage and bacon wraps

(we are going with frozen ready prepared christmas food to make it easier for us with a few week old baby)

can anyone tell me if there is anything else i need to get lol. My brain is not functioning at all.
I am getting it in advance using some vouchers I have so I don't have to even think about most of it when im sleep deprived or rely on hubby lol.

perhaps there is a bargain or 2 i should pick up whilst im doing it?

    any help gratefully received!!!
Everything is always better after a cup of tea

Hi MrsNoir! Sounds like you had a lovely time yesterday. I'd love a fire to snuggle up by. I live in a period property but sadly all the open fireplaces were closed up long before I moved in.

Have fun in Primark. I spent way too much last time I was there as they had loads of lovely Christmassy things - it's so easily done!

I hadnt been to Primark for ages! I got myself some Xmassy pj's, a rudolph jumper, a throw and a couple of cushions, and some tableware. My daughter fell in love with a jumper with a penguin on it... Ive just wrestled it off her to get her to put it away til dec :rotfl:

Id like to go back next week and have another quick nose around, and I must get in a trip to Ikea as I love stocking up on their candles etc!

Ooh good excuse for a list maybe ;D

  • Hi all,

Popped in to Aldi today and their current best buys include lots of Christmassy stuff (wrapping paper, gift pouches, cards etc). Bought some Christmas cards to insert a photo of LO in for family - their were lots of designs to choose from, am really pleased with them as had this kind of card in mind after seeing a friend's one last year!

We also managed to get our sloes yesterday - we usually pick them at the beginning of October, but when we went to our usual place we couldn't access the bushes :o( I was devastated as it's become a tradition of mine and DH's to pick the berries and make sloe gin for gifts (and for us hehe!). DH sourced some others though, so yesterday we stood in wind and freezing rain singing songs to our LO (in pushchair very toasty with his footmuff and raincover!) to keep him calm and rapidly picking some berries.

We bought the gin and sugar today and will make it all up tonight. AM hoping some extra shaking will speed up the process so it's ready before Christmas!

Still catching up on posts, but thanks for all the lovely ideas (and especially thanks for the hot hot hot hamper suggestions!).
