I've not had this present problem before lol. For the last four years, I've been living on my own. That meant that I had place to store the presents [usually on top of the wardrobe] and no one to hide them from. Now I am back home and back in my old bedroom, it is a little more difficult lol. I might make it my job for Friday [when I am next off] to shuffle things around and find them a home.
I feel a bit odd about being done already - shopping wise. I know I'll end up picking an extra bit or two as the weeks pass, but I am still a little shocked at my speediness to complete the buying spree this year lol.0 -
I am back from my little shopping trip. Dd decided she is going to do her A-Levels at school and not at the college. Am quite pleased about that, as school is in the next street and college is in the next town.
I bought a few things today, but can't say I was over impressed with anywhere.
I did get some cupcake boxes in Home Bargains. I yet again have no idea what for :rotfl:
Also got these cushions in Dunelm Mill
This one is for DDs Room. £3.99.
This one is for the lounge. £3.99. It looks better in real life.
In Asda I got 2 bags of mini Hershey Kisses for £3 and some peppermint candy canes for £1
They didn't have a lot of Christmassy stuff in. It's still all Halloween.
But that's not a bad thing, I had already spent enough in the other shops.
This site has made me a real Bah Humbug when shopping. Everytime DD picked something up I was saying 'How much  I could make that ':rotfl:
I really don't enjoy it like I used to.:(
I am really going to make more next year. I think that may give me the buzz I used to get shopping. I have always watched what I spend; but at Christmas I used to just buy stuff we never had all year. But things are so dear this year I just can't or won't pay it on principle.
Well that's another post I have ended with a moan.
I am quite a happy person really. No really I am.:rotfl:0 -

That's really, really nice.0 -

As they are all sugar and wont go off I'm going to put some in the childrens' stockings. Has anybody seen any nice, small containers that I can put the sweets in that will fit in the stockings? x
My 2 always have a kilner jar at Christmas, that I fill with sweets. They just give me the jar back when they have finished them. I do it in place of a selection box.
(I am storing my flavoured vodka is in them at the moment :rotfl:)0 -

For those making flavoured vodka, is it too late to start now? You've all inspired me to give it a go.....just need to decide on which flavour (perhaps the hardest part of the process!)
Calling all R-Patz fans.....Sainsburys and Asda have 'Water For Elephants' DVD for £3 - the cheapest I've seen it around. I haven't seen this film myself (and am not really an R-Patz fan but I do like Reese Witherspoon) but the film seems to gets mostly good reviews so might be a nice stocking filler or hamper pressie.0 -
A little bemused this year - have got my organised socks on this year and been trial running jams etc. Last year I made late and it was all edible, but not all amazing.
This year I planned to trial recipes first. Well Ive made mint flavoured jam (jars not washed enough), mint flavoured sweet chilli jam (as before), a chistmas caked which fell apart when I tried to tidy it up at the edges and today some pickle coloured marmalade:(:(
pickle coloured marmalade I accidentally put too much treacle in - I put a "gloop" in but it is now very darkis this acceptable or weird? I cant stand marmalade so can't taste test it! At least its not expensive to remake!
I did remake the jumbleberry jam and thus far, looking good

I wouldn't say it is too late. I will most probably make some more werthers vodka next week. I seem to have nearly finished the first batch.:o
I just put 4 packs of werthers in all at once and shook it a couple of times a day.
You will need to either decant it to a larger vessel or remove some vodka before you start.
Good Luck. (Although you can't really go wrong with that one):jpopularfurball wrote: »A little bemused this year - have got my organised socks on this year and been trial running jams etc. Last year I made late and it was all edible, but not all amazing.

That sounds so like me.
I am going to make pineapple jam next Christmas, and am going to use jars I empty this Christmas, to give them a year to air.:rotfl:
Can't stand marmalade, so can't help on that one .Sorry.0 -

Thank you! Don't want to tempt fate but it sounds pretty foolproof
Do you think the flavour should be strong enough to drink it with mixers or is it best drunk neat as shots? (I don't normally drink flavoured vodkas myself so sorry if this is a silly question!!!)0 -

The werthers vodka can be drunk neat. You can put it in the freezer to make it thicker. Just add more sweets if it is too strong after about 3 weeks.
My blackjack vodka makes your eyes water, and needs a mixer with it. It also needs filtering as it forms a kind of scum on the top.0
