Haven't seen anyone mention the Tesco Gift Guide yet. Picked a couple up cos DD loves looking at goodies. They have mens Christmas jumpers. Bottle green with Christmas Pudding or navy blue with Rudolph. These are £16 (page 69).

But better still on page 62 is lovely, red and white nordic style for £16 (style of piccy below but different if you know what I mean!).

BTW, this one is £12 on ASOS.

  • forgot to say, we had a slight hiccup with my dd2's main xmas pressie a few days ago (involved dh's cat and water) needless to say a replacement will take a good few months to come so we can't risk it. So my dh being a very big geek (works in IT) has rummage through all his bits and bobs and is building her a very small windows pc instead of the raspberry pi we was going to use. Shes going to be in her element when she just unwraps a monitor lol cause he's going to fix all the rest of it to the back of it! clever huh.

Made me fall in love with him all over again (dd1, 2 and 3 aren't his you see)

  • Evening all,

Right been a busy day....went to primark and tried on navy Santa jumper, seems I cannot pull off navy and the whole time I had it on I kept thinking blue is for boys(I know its not just for boys really but it didn't look good on me.) So went to get the penguin one and they didn't have my size :( So now I have no Christmas jumper. Did see the spiderman onesie and after mentioning the hulk one to OH to see if he would wear one am going to go back to get Spiderman one another time.

I bought some of those HB Christmas mugs today :)

Haven't seen any Christmas pyjamas I liked. Seen the snowman marshmallows.

Got an email from Hobbycraft - they have 3 for 2 on preserve making.
So lots of jars in email:
    1.9 oz hexagonal jar 79p.
    3.8oz Hexagonal for £1.00
    8 oz hexagonal £1.29
    1lb round £1.49
    2lb round £1.99
    35oz deluxe £3.49

Not sure if that is cheap or expensive but hope it helps if someone is stuck for jars.

I read (on here i think) one of the cheapest ways to get normal jam jars it to buy supermarket own brand basic lemon curd for 22p a jar & if you don't like the lemon curd you can just empty it out. DH is a lemon curd fan & he doesn't think they're too bad so he'll use some of ours & I was going to try to make lemon tart / lemon meringue pie with the rest & freeze them. You can also get basics mixed berry jam for about 35p (no idea what it tastes like) but could be used for jam tarts.

hi long time lurker here but I think it is now time to stop lurking!

this is a fab thread and everyone seems so friendly.

I have a long list of things to make for Christmas but need to actually get started.

I love the chocolate sleighs and am planning to make them for my two boys and my friend's 3 boys. is the pic of the sleighs in this thread or another one? Daft question time - are people making two sizes of sleigh, one with kit kat on the bottom and one with a big chocolate bar? Are there also two sizes of candy cane?

I love the reindeer cardi from Matalan - I will have to start working on OH!

I want to buy onesies for OH and the boys and might get to primark but if not mr T sells them for a couple of pounds more. OH went to primark in Newcastle and said it is complete chaos as there are refurbishing the store - he got out as quick as he could!

congratulations to all those with newborn babies. Big hugs to all those who need them.

Primark at the metro centre had loads of men's onesies on Sunday. I've already got my boys a spiderman & batman one from asda so didn't look at the kids onesies but did get a spiderman one for DH :rotfl:. Better than trying to find stuff in the Newcastle shop. Have they not finished it yet?
  • Urgh, I think royal mail should sign up to mse. Card through my door tuesday for a parcel theyd tried to deliver, giving me a sorting office 10mile away to collect from. Took an hours leave yesterday to go fetch it, only to be told it wasnt there and id have to go to the "other" sorting office, 15 miles in opposite direction grrr. Knew i was expecting another parcel so spoke with my neighbour who i know is home all day, and we agreed i would leave a note on my door which clearly asked for any parcels to be left with this neighbour. Got home today to another card telling me to collect from sorting office again! Note was still visably taped to door at eye level, and my neighbour said she has been in all day, saw postman come but didnt see he had a parcel otherwise she would of gone out. So thats more time off work, and more petrol to fetch another parcel cos bloody royal mail are to lazy to walk 10 yards to neighbours, or cant read! I reakon i could have brought most of my stocking fillers with the money they have wasted me in last 3 days! Sorry, rant over, going to relax with a christmas mag now....(breaths) :rudolf:
It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.
  • Hi Sorry but does anyone know of any good places / days out to see santa in the south east we were going to go to hop farm but they arent doing theres this year.
  • They have a lovely navy blue snowman one, Its rows of snowmen and green xmas trees all over it. It was my favourite one! They have a red santa one with a fluffy 'real feel' beard on, the green reindeer and the xmas pudding one in my primark. The snowman one is very 'classic' looking and I adore it. If i can figure out how to post a picture tomorrow I'll upload one so you can see it :)
Did they not have the blue mens penguin jumper in yours as well? It had a pom pom nose as well and a furry belly :D I wanted both but I just couldn't justify the money .
I did go to a very very large city centre primark though, there is literally nothing they don't sell. :)

ETA - The puzzle is even better when you see it in person, Really worth the £4.49 . Would make a lovely gift actually now that I think about it...
Nooo they only had the reindeer mens one! :( Also didnt have the navy santa womens one but I try not to wear dark colours so didnt mind about that. (I have psoriasis and its really bad on my scalp so looks like its been snowing iyswim if I wear dark colours. :o) The blue/red kids jumpers sound lovely! I would love the snowman one for DS, I wasnt actually too keen on the xmas pud one but as they were the only two there i wanted them lol. :rotfl:Might have to go further afield!

Morning :santa2: I'm leaving to visit my family and my Papas funeral tomorrow. I'm hoping to go shopping with my Mum on Saturday, so will pop into Primark and hopefully get us all a jumper.

I was in my local photographers. They also stock Yankee tarts. They are only £1.25 each, so I got Sugared apple and Be Thankful, which smells like warm apple pie, lush!

Damsel in Distress, they had two different sizes of those baskets in my HB, the large ones were £5.99 but there was no price on the smaller one, I assume that's the £3.99 one? It was still a good size.
Wishing you lots of love and strength for your Papas funeral. xxx

    £15 off a £75 or more spend - OCT1215

Hope this helps! Glad to see most peoples xmas prep coming along nicely!

Take care of yourselves everyone xxx
Spreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:
  • Wow, lots of pages to catch up on!
Sincerest wishes to those who have lost loved ones recently, this is our first Christmas without DH's lovely aunt who always invited us down at Christmas and was such a fantastic woman.
Congratulations to all the lovely little 2012 babies, our youngest nephew is 14 weeks tomorrow and is such a little darling. We are hoping to add to the family brood next year :)
Haven't managed to get anymore shopping done because of the hours im working, but thinking about getting BIL a Nandos sauce set as he loves food and Nandos. Do not know what to get my 2 brothers or DHs granny.
I have looked up my nearest HB's, only 2 miles away but as I dont drive this will mean 2 buses! Hopefully get out there this weekend.
As for decorations - I did the red and white Nordic theme last year and it looks as thought its going to be pretty popular this year. I made my own red and white heart decorations using felt, embroidering thread and stuff from an Asda smart price pillow - from 2 pack (Toy stuffing is ridiculously expensive) and DH got a new pillow too!
Better get my bottom in gear and get to work, on the late tonight so can't get back on until 10pm!!!

    Maggie

P.S Loving the Christmas ad's so far!! Disneyland Paris, DFS, and not to mention ad's on SYFY channel for up coming Christmas movies. Oh and there is only 2 Christmassy movies on True Movies on Friday, one at 3pm and the other at 5pm,

    Happy Thursday x
