It is horrible when someone dismisses something so casually that you've put months of thought or effort into. Even though they're usually not being mean on purpose.

    Very frustrating!

    Xmas Saver!
Do you know what. Boll!!ks to it. I am making a hamper. Instead of vodka I am going to put in a jar of HUMBUGS.

If he doesn't like it tough.

Why should I let them spoil my Christmas preparations. Its the only bit I like.

  • Some people are so hard to buy for, or just hard full stop!

My mum is one of those people. Don't get me wrong I love her but she can be hard work. One year I saw a book I thought she would like, when I said 'Oh I've got your present already' she replied with 'Its not a book is it?'

For her last birthday she kept going on and on about this kitchen gadget we have, for months she kept mentioning it saying she couldn't find one and did we know where to get one, how much she would like one. Decided to get her one for her birthday and she has never used it! (its something that can be used everyday-not one of those buy and rarely use after the novelty wears off) :wall:

Went to my Dads today (WHY OH WHY OH WHY?) and mentioned my werther's vodka, to be told he hated things like that. Vodka should be left alone.

To which I jokingly said, ' Yes its to go with you Cheese and Pickles Hamper' (Which it was)

He actually laughed and said ' F!!! Off , Cheese and Pickle Hamper. If I want cheese and pickles I'll go and bl00dy buy some.'

I think he thought I was joking.

I just get so fed up sometimes. Everytime I try and do something different, nobody here wants to know.

I actually got in the car and cried.
Some people neef to engage brain before opening mouth. I'd love a cheese and pickle hamper. I always do my dad cheese and chutney. I find it more snd more difficult to buy for him these days and like you think its nice to make an effort .

Just give him a jar if humbugs like someone else has suggested. Eat the cheese and pickle yourself :xmastree::snow_laug
  • Hi All,

Newbie here but absolute xmas and bargain hunter addict!

I've been thinking about xmas for ages and it's so great to see a forum dedicated to chat about the wonderful event!!

Have my spreadsheets going with an ideas / bought columns and am well into buying the gifts for hampers stage. :)

Unfortunately though I'm still renovating my house (every room and everything!!!) So that's stopping me getting a bit more creative...but it also means I'll soon get to be creative with a brand new kitchen and oven...very exciting :j

Looking forward to the lead up and being able to watch xmas films and drink hot chocolate!!

Does anyone know where i can get hold of some moshi monster pjs, suitable for 5yo dd. ive seen boys ones, but she's a bit of a girly girly (except for lovin the moshis!) and i would like some pink ones if possible. Im stuck for pjs for 12 yo dd, might have to give in and get her a onsie!

The Primark here have got Pink Girls Moshi pj's, think they've got the pink fluffy one on the front and they were £7, had a look at them last weekend as Im going to go back in the week and pick them up for DD1 who is Moshi mad.

Nipped into Iceland earlier and got a lovely tin of Fox's biscuit for £4, doesnt say anywhere on the label that they are on offer but they're in tesco and Sainsburys at the min apparently half price from £12 to £6!!!! Checked the weight and they are exactly the same. Received my order from WH Smiths, DD1 was desperate for the little mix book so I had ordered that to put away. Wilkos had some lovely wrapping up bits and bobs in, i love doing the brown paper wrapping and they've got alot of stuff that would look really good with it.

(((Hugs))) Own my Own. You know the only good thing about that? You get to drink the vodka straight out of the freezer. You might need some tonight.
Sounds like humbugs is about all he deserves. : (
