If you order online, they show an estimated price on the meats that have differing weights, which is the half-way price point. If your total based on the price point is over £60 then you will qualify for the free bottle of wine. If you order online they email you a voucher for your wine before 30 November, so if you subsequently pay below £60, it won't affect your free wine. If you order instore, then you get your free wine when you place your order & pay the £20 deposit - so again the final total won't affect this. (Just to note that the final balance may go up just as it may go down.)
The weights for the stuffed meats include the stuffing. The stuffings are very tasty, but in some cases there is a fairly high proportion to meat. I used to buy the de-boned, stuffed turkeys but now buy whole turkey & separate stuffings - it goes much further for us - but just requires a bit of extra preparation on Christmas morning.
Ellie.
Hi, big thanks for the reply; much appreciated
So they take an average, that's good to know. I'm going to order in store I think.
Also, I'm still not sure whether to have the crown or bird regarding the turkey. I guess there are pros and cons to both. Maybe the large crown with stuffing as it does look good
What I have made my mind up on is the salt and caramel glazed gammon joint :xmassmile

Evening. I got the Mollie Makes book delivered today from the Book people. I've had a quick flick and it looks good.im going to pour a glass of wine and have a proper look.
I also got a book for the kids Xmas eve hampers. I got Christmas in Mouse house. It is even better than I thought. A lovely story.
I'm not sure what We are doing for Christmas day this year. My family live 200 odd miles from us. We had them here 2010 and last year we went to my mums and me and my sisters all brought something and cooked it all.
But my mum is very ill. And my sister and her hubby suggested eating out so that both out family and bil's family could all be together. There would be 17 of us!
But I don't fancy it at all. I don't want the kids to have to sit at a formal table and not be able to go and play after dinner. Plus it would cost us over £200 just for our family!
I'd rather spend that money on the food and cook it all at mums.
My mum isn't feeling up for anything to be honest. I feel horrible saying this, but it may be her last .
I like to keep everybody happy, but really don't want to eat out. Just don't know what else we can do if my mum wants to go.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -

If there are 17 of you could you see if you could hire a cottage or a log cabin somewhere that would fit you all. That way you could all be together and everyone could pitch in. Your Mum could still relax but your children could have fun as well. I must admit that I don't fancy going out for Christmas Dinner either - I don't think I would be able to relax as I'd always have to have one eye on the children. Hope you work something out xx0 -

I asked about Hampers a few pages ago. This is one of the replies I got. I hope they are the ones you were looking for.Damzel_In_Distress wrote: »For DS I get a a cardboard box from the local shop, Trim it to size and wrap it with xmas wrapping paper like you would a present, Then I fill it with the things and cellophane it, I also decorate it with jewel snowflakes bought from country baskets and use christmas ribbon at the top, But not everyone does that obviously. Don't concern yourself with paying out money for a basket, a papered cardboard box will do just fine. DS get's his on xmas eve morning so he can use it during the day.
Personally I put in -
A christmas DVD to watch on xmas eve (The snowman was last years choice).
New PJs.
A giant xmas gingerbread man (£1.50 from greggs at xmas time).
Christmas sweets (Haribo do some etc).
A santa key, So santa can get in as we don't have a chimney.
Reindeer food.
Christmas biscuits, Such as cadbury festive friends.
A selection box.
A christmas book to read before bed.
A game we can play together (Last year was xmas style snap from b&m , Really want the rudolph scene it this year).
A christmas colouring set.
I also spend around £6 on a few very small toys, I go to poundland, home bargains, b&m etc and get 6 things that are all £1 or less.
A new pair of slipper socks.
A santa stop here door hanger (This year i will just re use last years, no need to buy new every year).
I also put in a few other small things, such as a pack of match attacks foot ball cards DS collects, they're only 50p and this could be adapted as they do disney cards and moshi monster ones etc?
A few random cheapy sweets from home bargains (They often have small things from 20p ish)
A new teddy bear, Depending on where from and glitches etc this can vary in size. Homebargains have fairly decent sized ones at the moment for £2.99 but I managed to get a £4 harrods bear in the sale so this year he'll have that one.
I hope I've given you some idea's? The one I did last year has LOADS of stuff in and even I was impressed with myself lol. It cost around £22 all together which was spread over time so I felt like it cost nothing actually.
Just keep your eye out for odd random cheap xmas sweets, items, books etc.
Just last week I managed to get a 6inch (ish) plush santa from home bargains for 79p, and it will look lovely in his hamper.
