Has anyone ever purchased the Christmas-opoly instead of The Rudolph one as seen here
Just wondered as I haven't heard anyone mention it or is it the same thing?
they look very similar don't they.. don't like how the english seller is a good £10 more than from usa etc. just goes to show how much the uk rips people off lol.Snugglebunny8 Just rang Foyles for update. They told me item was ordered on 13th form the supplier in the US, and it is being shipped directly from them to me (I was under impression they had ordered them in to them and would then send out from them to me, that is what was said last week!) but anyway, allowing 5-7 days to get from USA to UK plus onward delivery here, would expect them next week, provided they ordered them all at the same time? I placed my order on 6th but they didnt order from supplier until 13th (that bit ties in with what I was told end of last week)t
Think i'll give them 2 weeks from the day the money came out then i'll contact Foyles saying our contract was with them not their suppliers lol
New hawkins bazaar catalogue has come, shall sit down this afternoon with a hot chocolate and have a mooch lolTotally debt free wohooo 2014

Does anyone know the best place to get advent calenders? The children like to have a chocolate one and then we have a lovely wooden train that I put chocolates in as well.
Looking forward to Boots and Argos shopping next week :j
Depends on what you like! Poundland normally do character ones but I'm not keen on the kinnerton chocolate but kids dont normally care! Not sure on best place but I know our local tesco & morrisons both have advents out xSpreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:0 -

Why do we go mad when we're food shopping for Christmas?Usually we end up buying lots of fresh food, we really don't need and stock the freezer up with buffet nibbles...just in case. Just in case of what? Unexpected visitors? We never get those
We're usually still eating Christmas cake in May!
And alcohol - We get in a bottle of this for my mum, a bottle of that for his dad, a bottle of this just because it's Christmas - absolutely nuts! Especially as they never come round unexpectedly and when they do, they just have a couple :rotfl:
This year I'm going to be strict and plan a proper menu, like I do for the other 51 weeks of the year. A day by day, 3 meals a day planner and include when we're out at friends etc so we don't spend excessively.
I say that now...:rotfl:0 -
Could you freeze leftover brandy butter for next year? Butter freezes well normally.
I've just wrapped and packaged the first Christmas gift and almost finished week 3 of the Houseworks Holiday Plan. I just need to add some decorative touches to the bedroom and put the cover on my winter duvet.
Edit: I think as a reward, once those two bits are done I will take a shower and mealplan Christmas. Giving myself a reward task seems so backwards. Hmm *confused*Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

i have just downloaded an app called xmas tale. my 2yr old loves it, will show my 5 yr old when he gets home.
it tells you the story of christmas, you can read it or have it read to you. you can also touch things on the screen, like the snowman, stockings etc and they do different things.
our favourite bit is the page with mr & mrs clause sat by the fire. if you click on the microphone button you can add a message, so for santa i said ho ho ho, merry christmas, then said their names, and it changed my voice to sound like his, you can to that for mrs clause aswell.
and its free, so a really good app.
same one is available on android called christmas taleTotally debt free wohooo 2014

I need to plan a day when the children are in school to start going around the shops I think, Tesco, Home Bargains, Wilkinsons etc to see what ideas I can get. I'm going to try and think up some activities running up to Christmas to do with the children to make it fun for them. My one main extravagence this year is that I've booked to see Santa in Harrods. I took DD1 when she was 4 and it was really magical. Best part of it is you pay £10 for up to 10 people and then when you turn up its refunded to you - I think you have to get a Harrods Card though (Bit like a Tesco Clubcard!). Really looking forward to that.0

Do me a favour - send me your menu planner when your done lol x0 -

oops forgot to add does anyone else in the wider family eat these kind of foods that maybe you could contribute to and take a portion? You need to be careful you dont get the reply I get if someone wants something and they're the only one who's going to eat it ~ BUT ITS CHRISTMAS!
Or maybe have a set amount of money per person for extra treats that only they like?
Shall I tell you something else which annoys me whilst I'm in the mood for it and this is all year round and if my dh was here I'd be looking straight at him.....offering to get a snack etc from the kitchen, taking something out of the fridge, maybe grated cheese or pouring cream and then leaving it on the kitchen side until the next day when its gone off or hard etc (if I havnt been in the kitchen to put it away!) drives me mad :rotfl:
Phew rant over!Spreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:0 -
I think if you want a budget foody xmas you do need to meal plan for that short period. If you have people staying, plan 3 meals a day and stick to the plan. If possible make one lunch incorporate leftovers. It's a fine line between feeling hard done by (it is xmas after all) and feeling like you've wasted loads of money. This year unfortunately we don't have loads of money to waste so we need a frugal foody xmas.0

our xmas week food is just the same really to our every week shopping.. only diff is we have a turkey roast dinner instead of another meat.. i get a few treats in as soon as they start coming into the shops so i don't really notice any change there, and things like brandy butter has a really long shelf life on so can be got as soon as you see it.
Its my dd2's bday on boxing day and we always have family over for a buffet, so i stock up with the iceland party goodies usually and get some salad bits and just leave out. The food for xmas really shouldn't come to much more than a normal weekly shop i think.Totally debt free wohooo 2014
