I usually end up spending more than I should on DD :o Last year she only asked for new pens from Santa, so I ended up getting lots of different types of pens, crayons, crafty type bits for her which she has used absolutely loads this year. She also had her bedroom decorated to a big girls room, but had some bits to unwrap under the tree as well - so last year was a very expensive year but obviously she won't be getting a new bedroom every year!

This year, she doesn't know what she wants from Santa or from anyone else. I have a few ideas for her, and will hopefully spend £100, but in reality its probably gonna be more like £150 but I will try to get bargains and sell things etc to fund it.

TTC # 2 since Oct 2011 - good things come to those who wait :o

 2013 is going to be our lucky year
  • Hi thank you for the recommendation.
I had looked at that one and also the galaxy y too.
If anyone else has any recommendations i would be very grateful.
I think a few people will give him £10 in a card so I am hoping I can find a good deal, maybe earn some more survey money and help him get it when the time comes.

Hubby's sister has the Y and hates it...the screen isn't very sensitive and also tends to freeze quite abit...xx
    ;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)
  • My little boy isn't here yet but I know what we will spend on him next year due to our IVA we have to have this stuff planned and it will be £75 Birthday (inc day out/tea party with family) and £40 for Christmas. Obviously a 1 year old is cheaper to buy for than older children. But our spend came down to what we can sensibly budget/ afford - which is where I am going here....

Spend what you can afford to spend, not what you feel you should or what your friends spend or what your kids guilt you into spending ;) at the end of the day how many presents do we remember from childhood? I remember 2 - a Barbie Caravan because my Dad & Grandad spent all day building it :rotfl: and a Guitar because it wasn't what I wanted  that sounds awful (I was 7!) but what I do remember is the memories!! And I have very fond memories that my family created.

    I hope this helps x

Oh gosh, no I would only ever spend what I can afford to, I just find it interesting to see what the norm is. dd1's first christmas she got to wear clothes for the first time in her incubator, her little 2lb baby grow was her gift LOL! Most of dd2's first xmas gifts came from ebay and nct sales so probably spent about 20 quid on her LOL!!!

exactly, well said indeed. I remember my handmade presents the most from when I was little, they were always the best!
We all like to spoil or children but there is definately limits. I used to get myself into so much debt at xmas when it wasnt needed and even got a CCJ oops:mad:
PPI Claims won £3000:j now free of all credit card debt after 10 years.

Will I win my Lloyds battle!!!

Currently saving for our wedding and what seems like a million other things":)
  • Boots advantage card magazine had a couple of pages of previews of the Christmas gifts this year, and said that the catalogue will be out 3rd October!

Erm is it sad that I have just set a reminder alarm for this on my phone. :o
    Aims for 2014
Drink a glass of water a day, Empty handbag at least once a week, Continue "not putting things off" and tackle things head on, Treasure people around me, Stay healthy and well away from hospitals, Continue to declutter/decorate house slowly and not get stressed because I can't do everything at once. :D
  • Crowdpleaser - I keep seeing a Zoobles figure reduced on Argos Clearance. Its now £2.99 928/0838

I have decided that I WILL watch Nativity tomorrow (once kids at school and DH at work)

As Moneysavingmumtoone and Chickywiggle have pointed out, I could do with some 'sparkle and shine' in my life right now, and I am being a responsible parent and erm checking that the dvd is an OK content for my kids, and plays all the way through. ;). :D

  • I'm not scare mongering but I would recommend, if you plan on doing a lot of your shopping online this year to do it sooner rather than later. I have read various long range forecasts that say this year is going to be as bad if not worse that a few years ago and I know so many parcels got lost/ruined and arrived late.
Good point! Alot of post headed our way and out never was seen again after it hit the post office last year.
    1,2 & 5p: Christmas day food £9.31
    10 & 20p: misc savings £2.70

  • Oh great then, more stuff to get sucked up the hoover! LOL! Thanks for filling me in everyone!

Can I ask roughly how much you soend on your kids? I'd like to do 80-100 on each. Its dd1's birthday 9 days before christmas (dammit prem baby lol) so have to really budget although I dont have anyone else to buy for. Just wondered what the norm is? My friend spends 500 on each of hers!!!! Yikes! x

This year around £200 but she's 3 1/2 and needs more advanced toys. Tbh this will be the least I've spent on her for Xmas but I buy enough to set her up for the year and include clothes and bedding. I also start buying on Boxing day and spread it out throughtout the year.
