  • Forgot to mention - the postage on the site that I linked to is quite expensive unless you spend over £30. Fortunately, my friend wanted some things from the site too and I bought some non Christmas bags so was ok.
msgigglewick - That's a lovely idea. Thanks for sharing.

Yes had noticed the postage was quite steep, thinking of ordering a few plain gloss gift bags too as then they will last me for years for Birthdays.

i'm having a section on Oct 24th so hopefully by mid Nov i can do my traditional 'send the kids out with dad while i get all the presents wrapped'. this usually means me sitting on the floor for a good few hours so i'm hoping my section will be well healed by then :)
    Skint, but happy (ish):p

    Hi,

Been lurking a bit and thought I would join in.
Nice to read about all of your Christmas planning.

I usually make hampers but am not doing it this year as I always get so stressed by it all and it becomes less enjoyable.
I once did hessian sacks instead with handpainted wooden gingerbread and heart gift tags that could then be hung on the tree afterwards.

This year, I'm going for something a bit different that won't be to everyone's taste but with mine and OH's evergrowing family makes sense to us and we know our friends and family will like them.
We are doing Christmas goodie bags. All bags are going to include nice items mainly purchased from craft fairs that are appropriate for each recipient.

I've already decided that each bag is going to have a luxury bespoke xmas cracker in it, a jar of retro sweets and a candy cane and then the other items will be more personalised for each person.
The bags that I have purchased are quite large so can fit a lot in. I bought the bags in bulk. They are thick paper bags which we prefer as they can go straight in the recycling as most people we know rip or throw away their gift bags anyway.
I got my bags from here if anyone is interested:

    They also do Santa ones:

Am looking forward to reading about everyone's ideas.

    Hi
I love your idea for the bags.
I would like to do something next year very similar, do you have any ideas of anything else you plan to put in them (LOL talking about next year before this year is here yet - but because I intend on getting bits throughout the year as and when I see them) I just wondered if you had any examples of what else you might have found so far?

Good luck to your sister/congratulations !

When I was in Morrisons this morning they had started on their Christmas aisle. We have a small shop and usually its one side of an aisle but today it was just a few shelves and some empty spaces where they are obviously awaiting stock :j

I had my GTT this morning and I was feeling a little sorry for myself afterwards so I decided to build the baby's cot

I am no DIY'er :rotfl: but I managed it and 2 hours later I am very proud of myself!

Managed to get my Mum's peppermint tea and now some of the baby stuff is coming out of storage the Christmas stuff is much more accessible :rudolf:_party_:dance:

I am getting very very excited for Christmas this year! ( As you can tell from all my emoticons LOL) but also today on the news it said something about the Twilight film on 16th November and that it was "only" 2 months away - I then started telling hubby I would be watching it in the Cinema, the day of release whether I was in labour/with baby no matter what :rotfl:

    Hi :)

I don't have a great deal of ideas yet and some of the items will be specific to each person.

However, I definitely want to add a Christmas tree decoration in each one. I was also thinking drinks miniatures and mulled wine sachets for adults. I thought I could add some reindeer Christmas bubbles for the kids.

I am hoping to get some more ideas while I'm here and while I browse craft fairs.

You could put mulled wine mix in hessian muslin squares tied with some red ribbon.

For the children Snowman soup & reindeer food would go down a treat!

Love the Christmas tree decoration idea or even one of those signs like someone posted on here the other day it was a wooden plaque with "this house believes" written on it.

I will be really interested in what you end up with by the time you are finished, do make sure you keep us updated :)
