if anyone is thinking of getting a Sky basic package for a relative for Christmas (we wondered for my mum but decided not to as she's never in!) there was an offer where you and they got a heap of M&S vouchers as introduction, if anyone wants it I will look out the letter I got, have it somewhere!

We did this for our son and his girlfriend last year so we got the M&S vouchers (wonderful just before Chrstmas) but the downside is that I pay the damned monthly bill! :rotfl:They also had vouchers and used them as gifts for others, so it was a win-win for them. I think I must be too soft.....
  • snugglebunny - I fully agree, I am very happy that it is not the Vettel show again this year! Looking forward to it starting again this weekend. :T

We got the keys for our new house yesterday and we popped over there last night, it was very strange! I think it's because i've never bought anywhere before and it's a huge responsibility! Anyway I was stood in the living room already planning where I was going to put the tree! :D

We took over our stuff from the loft which included all of the Christmas decorations, when we were leaving we were concerned as we couldn't lock the back gate, my OH said "oh well we haven't got anything to nick" and I just thought "Haven't got anything to nick?? WHAT ABOUT ALL MY CHRISTMAS STUFF????!!!!"

I would love to go to a Christmas market abroad one year :)

I have been to a few in Basle when staying with relatives. I am looking forward to going to Cologne this year, very much, but I am told that many of the Christmas markets in the UK have the same stuff. Logical really, nothing new any more. I just like going on European city breaks and the markets are an added bonus. Looking forward, just as much, to the department stores, restaurants etc.

Yes, plenty of things going on in the UK.

Thank you to whoever posted about the Argos clearance sale - I spent half an hour going through everything in the sale at my local store and now have several things in my basket, only problem is the things aren't available for home delivery and I haven't got time to get there tomorrow after work so I'm gonna have to wait until midnight, then do a reservation then I should have til friday to collect.

Now if you live on the south coast no reserving Argos things until I've placed my reservation :p

Edit: you're free to shop again :)

This made me smile- the thought of you waiting for midmight to reserve :rotfl::rotfl: Glad you managed it though! :T

I will have to remind DH to go and pick up my stuff tonight (I can't drive atm due to a recent operation). I sent the reservation number to his mobile while he was out yesterday and he nearly gave the game away in front of DS2 when he got back- good job I'm good at subterfuge! ;)

    morning!

Han6149 love your idea of a box of gifts numbered like that, I may steal your plan!

That's ok. :D it just added something extra to it.
    ...

That is actually a really good point thanks! Back to the drawing board. It's always hard to get as She has 7 children and I'm one of 14 grandchildren. Last year me and my brothers went in together to get something which'll probably happen again. She's 90 so can't get around too much a bus trip wouldn't be suitable. She suffers with sciatica if there are any special slippers or shoes around... I'll have a google. But thanks, I never saw it like that.
  • Lakeland have their Christmas range on the website now. They also have some reductions, mostly of gardening bits but there are other things as well. I have just ordered a couple of gardening bits for my Mum for her birthday at the same time as getting some of the Christmas bits in.

The code for £5 off a £25 spend is still working too. The one mentioned towards the end of the thread.

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1290999

Postage is free over £30 now. One of the few companies I shop with who have reduced their spend for free postage not put it up.

So would I! (German beer)
Hey, I don't want to burst your bubble or anything but my in laws are in their late 70's and my BIL brought them a digital photo frame last year or the year before but they didn't ever switch it on because it has to be plugged in and that uses power and costs them money :T and they would switch it on only when visitors came and would forget how to use it :rotfl: so this is perhaps not something your 90 year old nan would appreciate as much.
Obviously I could be wrong but I just wanted to let you know in case your hard earned money ended up being wasted and perhaps you hadn't considered those aspects.
Two years ago I spent ages sourcing a simple self contained photo printer for my inlaws- I'm not sure they've ever used it when I haven't been there, despite me going over what to do (stick in SD card and press print) loads of times. :o

last year I got my grandparents the ordance survey map/ poster of their address from 1805 that was on offer here then framed it myself.

Lots of people moaned about the quality but i thought it looked great once framed and (have been told) that they loved it. No idea if they displayed it as i've not been round (due to living miles away).

this year i think it'll be a tea/ coffee and biscuit hamper.
For years I thought I was being really thoughtful remembering to include diabetic chocolate for my grandad (who is diabetic by the way). until my mum happened to mention one year (sometime in june or july) that he hates the stuff and would rather have normal choccy/ buscuits and just not eat very much of it. DOH!
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:
