I leave this thread for a while and when I come back it's descended into a joke! ;)

Seriously though, thanks for the suggestions I think I might consider writing to them, just cause I don't think it's right to tell a customer they shouldn't have something in such a forceful way to make them buy something more expensive. My 89yr old grandma goes there, what if he's ripping her off? It's a butcher attached to a supermarket with the brand name, but it's not in-store.

And yes, I'm sure he is probably right and this steak is probably 'nicer' but it's also £5 more expensive. I was quite happy to have rump, so if I ask for it I should get it! I will go back and tell him i want RUMP and that Sailorman Steak is not my favourite ;)

PLUS if i want a really nice steak I'll get a nice sirloin as a treat, I'd much rather have a sirloin than popeye/ribeye. But if I want an any-night-of-the-week steak I'll have a rump ;)

It was the picture of the cows that got this started :rotfl:

I'd have left in a chilled shelf and gone elsewhere. There's nothing wrong with saying please serve me what I ask for. It's what the staff are there for for goodness sake!

And there's the problem with shoppers today!

The Asda's over here have replaced their in store butcher now with one which started as a farm shop, they sell good products as I've bought from their butchers shop before (not in a supermarket tho) but they are quite pricey so unless you want something special like honey glazed duck,I'll go to my local one.
Seems that they (Asda) are binning their own butchers in favor of McGees,& after my visit last week to Tesco, seems they are following suite..

This has got to be the funniest thread I've read. Sorry I've got nothing helpful to say but thanks everyone for the laughs! :) (The tomato post was brilliant).
