Oven cleaner spilt on my ugg boot in the shop when it leaked, what will happen?
From a big well known uk store, b & m home store. I told the store, my partner got it on his leg, it was leaking in the basket, it is burning his leg and it was recorded in the accident book, but for my boot is completely ruined and stained, have taken photos and will send them to head office with a letter. The manager said they will pay for the bill, attached a photo of an online version of the receipt they were £160 and completely ruined

They might. They can and probably will reduce the amount from £160 depending on how old they are. It's negotiation. If you don't like the offer then you make an offer to them and if you reach a deadlock you take them to court and let a judge decide.:footie:

I suspect they're entitled to give you only the value of the boots as is though, and not pay for a new pair."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

As they are nearly 3 years old they are only offering £60 but I paid £160 and they sell now for £190, they said This is all they are worth as the sales of goods act says they can give less? I can't afford £130 more to buy a new pair when it wasn't my fault. They are ruined with oven cleaner acid as it leaked in the basket!!! So annoyed. What do I do? Thanks0

Its a shame your boots are ruined, but I'd be happy with that for a pair of boots that have had regular use for 3 years.New forum. New sig. Yes I still need to lose 2 stone!0

So this continues from your earlier thread?
How much would you pay for a three year old pair of boots?
That of course is probably not the best way at arriving at the right figure, but it may help you understand how the value of an item will depreciate over time.0 -

Personally I wouldn't expect any pair of shoes or boots to last 3 years unless they was stored away throughout the whole time, which would really defy the point of buying the boots in the first place.0

Take the £60 and buy some different boots? Uggs are so ugly and aren't you bored of them anyway after 3yrs?0
