hi, im new to this forum. just wanted to ask some advice.
had an account on Paypal, but i closed that account. after a few days paypal email me saying i have a dispute on my account and need to resolve. they say someone sent me money in my account and i owe paypal £750.00, they keep calling me, and harrasing me to pay this negative balance. which i dont really know because that account was closed. Now i recieved a letter from IQOR debt recovery services, heres the letter!
PAYPAL PREMIER HAVE PASSED YOUR DEBT TO IQOR RECOVERY LTD WITH INSTRUCTIONS TO RECOVER YOUR OUTSTANDING BALANCE OF £750.00 IN FULL. ACCEPTED METHODS OF PAYMENT ARE DETAILED............... IF YOU DO NOT TAKE ACTION TO RESOLVE THIS MATTER EMMEDIATELY, WE MAY COMMENCE LEGAL ACTION IN THE COUNTY COURT/SHERIFF COURT. THIS MAY WELL RESULT IN A JUDGEMENT / DECREE BEING RECORDED AGAINST YOU.
I came across to another thread to about sending them a letter Template N. to ask them the details about this debt, and pay £1 postage. i did that today and send that letter.. wanted to know if this works? thank you. hopefully to hear from u soon, as im so panickin about it.0 -

You missed out the very relevant part 'what happened BEFORE you closed your account'?0 -
Right, im sure this has been gone through a million times as alway use special delivery but unfort 4 moths later I find out I have been stung! please help....
I sold a phone one ebay. they guy paid via paypal. i transferred the cash to my bank account and then came to pick up the phone. 4 months later I get a charge back and im left with a 750 pound negative paypal account and no phone....
i have refused to paypal the balance as if the funds were fraudulent then they should never have been released into my account. I went down the police station and the police said that the email, name and car registration was well known with credit card fraud.
I now get phoned at least 3 times a day by the debt collectors from paypal. i never answer to them! Not sure what to do now as Im not paying them but neither do I want my credit history affected.
Any information on how to solve this would be great.....
Didn't you get the buyer to sign for the phone?0 -

Don't bother, just ignore them.
They phone a lot, and then give up.
You won't end up in court and your credit file won't be damaged."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

1) Paypal say someone sent money to your account and now you owe them £750. Eh?
2) Just finding it odd that you and the OP both have the same amount of £750 that Paypal are asking for.
Putting the odd story and taking it as genuine, I'd generally agree with Brooker_Dave that they will go away after a fair amount of bluster, for £750 you may find that they don't. If it did go to court and can prove you don't owe it then you just give details to the court..0 -

But still does not satisfy Paypal trackable proof of delivery requirement, the seller could easily come up with a signed doc.Jamie_Carter wrote: »It would make a big difference because it is proof that the buyer did receive the phone.0 -

I suggest you re read what PayPal actually say about 'proof'. Follow the link on any PayPal payment received email you have, or on any payment in your PayPal transaction history.
They require online tracking to the address they supply, not a bit of paper signed by a random bloke who could be anyone.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I wasn't talking about Paypals terms and conditions, I was talking about in court. If the OP had proof that the buyer received the phone, then legally Paypal were wrong to reverse the payment. And therefore any legal action to recover money from the OP would be quashed.0
