Car dealers pull stunts like this all the time. It's called "bait and switch"

They advertise cars which have already been sold at lower prices, which they won't ever have to sell at, to entice customers in the hope they can say "sorry it's just been sold" and sell another car on which they will make more money.

They used to simply publish descriptions of cars which didn't exist in newspaper adverts but now the internet and auto trader are so popular I suppose they use cars they have just sold because they need pictures.

In reply to the OP you could always ask but there is no reason they have to give you the lower price.
