One Lost Shoe

I'm used to seeing gloves or single gloves on the road, but yesterday, I came across a single shoe. It was one of those new type stilettos, with a platform under the toes and six(ish) inch heels.
Given how painful they can be to walk on, I can quite understand why the wearer would want to take them off on the walk home. However, what threw me was the fact there was only one shoe. There was no sign of its partner.
Have you ever lost one shoe, and how did it come about?

Not quite the same, but I remember once getting dressed for work in winter in a flat where the light was poor.
When I got to work and sat down at my desk, I looked down to see that I was wearing two shoes - the same style, but one black and one navy! Don't know whether anyone else noticed, but I worried about it all day!

My dad always used to say when he'd see an odd shoe in the road that they'd been dropped out of the backpack by a motorcyclist.
Don't know how many motorcyclists wear six inch stillettos though!Make £2026 in 2026

It's possible. I didn't notice any undergarments lying on the road.0

Yes, I was river rafting, fell off down a rapid, ended up with my foot caught on a rock, and the water then pushed me free but left my shoe behind!0

We have a greyhound who is very fond of shoe theft... so shoes don't tend to stay where you put 'em around here.
Hubby headed off to work bleary eyed one morning after the little pointy nosed thief had been at work - sends me a picture message about 10am - he'd gone in with one work shoe and one trainer and had only just noticed.
We quite regularly get odd abandoned shoes around here - usually school kids flinging each other's PE bags around like the usual level of idiocy that seems like a cracking idea when you're 14 years old.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
