Is it just me or is this country unwilling to be governed by a Conservative led coalition?
The nation's agenda doesn't change when the government changes. We just decide that one bunch of crooks has to go even if it means letting in the other bunch.

So the 2010 election result didn't mean that we suddenly wanted to adopt the naive and immature political notions of a bunch of overgrown public schoolboys.

I do think the current Government are on the right track with the majority of what they have implemented, but i think the entire way that this country is governed at any one time is out dated and needs changing, allowing one set of people with a common trail of thought needs addressing, all the parties have good and bad points. I think each major party should have a representative at the top, who then make joint decisions, with input from the public to help the decision making
  • I've just seen the Labour party political broadcast on the BBC. It was sickening and infuriating, and focused upon attacking the Conservatives for the Granny Tax, Privatisation of the NHS, and various other heinous crimes!

I'm behind the Granny Tax. Over 65s should be taxed at the same rate as everyone else.

As for the privatisation of the NHS, wasn't the blue print for this created by Andrew Lansley, a Labour MP!. What a bunch of liars!

    Are you sure :)
'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher

By it's nature, a state funded organisation will always have a left wing bias.

These issues have also been attacked by the Sun newspaper

and add Child Benefit to that list which is another shambles by the current government. Also add all the dinner parties that Mr Cameron is having with influential businessmen and the horses he decides to ride...

The Tories have it tough with the economic issues but aren't doing themselves any favours at all with their policies and decisions.

The opposition are doing what any opposition would do but what is more embarrassing is that the Tories and Lib Dems blame everything on the previous government and 13 years in power. That excuse won't last for ever and is running very thin already.

All governments do that. There's still a number of things that even Thatcher still gets blamed for

The one time I remember when all members of the house were animated; passionate; and vocal was when they were fending off allegations during the expenses scandal.

It says it all really. Most of them are career politicians; in it for their own ends. Sadly, everyone knows it now which is why so few bother voting.

Even if you don't take that view (which some might say is overly cynical about wannabe MPs' motives) those that aren't 'only in it for the money' are driven by a passionate belief that they know all the answers.

I mean, seriously, what does a pipsqueak like Cameron know about anything? And what did Blair?

He wasn't writing (just) about politics but, corny or not, Yeats' lines from The Second Coming apply wonderfully:

"The best lack all conviction, while the worst
    Are full of passionate intensity."

We have an awful lot of both types in Parliament..
  • I'd be more impressed with all politicians if they were less bothered by scoring political points over each other over relatively unimportant issues & got their heads together to sort out the mess the country is in.

It seems to me that many MPs are more bothered about trying to keep their own jobs than help the 'ordinary' person find or keep theirs.

When the Opposition can't actually give any real policy ideas which might work & relies totally on just opposing for opposing's sake or nit-picking over minor issues then the whole system becomes a joke.

but labour have put forward a number of ideas on creating jobs and growth, and they warned this govt about a double dip recession
having said that labour would do best doing what the tories did for 13 years and not having a single policy on anything.
