I didn't just buy a new battery as it is not a known fact that the battery is the cause. And I suggested this to my DH but he told me to speak to them first. I haven't had a phone go wrong before so have no idea what bits are covered and what I should do. Hence my post....

HTC have responded but it seems that they will still charge for a repair anyway, and they have suggested it is the battery. And it would be another 25 quid admin fee on top of the quote. I have asked them to explain why I need to pay anything as the phone is still under warranty. Will see what they come back with but I agree it might be worth buying a battery and/or borrowing a different charger to see if that changes the picture.

After post number four I was thinking the same thing.

Buy a battery. Buy one anyway, whether it works or not you clearly want to continue to use the phone and a second battery extends its life should you be away from a wall socket for a long period of time. I have second batteries for all of my phones.
