Desperate help needed stopping my single claim :(

Hi I received a letter from tax credits last Thursday saying they were making checks to my single claim,...... My partner whom we have 2 children together left the house 13 months ago and is currentrly living with his mother down the road (not ideal) it is his home and mortgage and has been kind enough to let me stay here untill I finished my degree.the problem has arisen as he has kept all the bills....car, credit card bank etc in this address as in his eyes he was coming back here when I left, but tax credits have seen that his credit is actively linking to this property, I have 2 weeks to prove he isn't living here and won't take word of mouth as Proof he doesn't live here, I am desperate as without this I can't pay any bills etc let alone live
thankyou

So you have no proof he doesn't live there (and lives a few doors down instead) and they have proof that he does live there
Sorry i don't see what you can do, even worse they can also make you pay back any money they deem it was fraudulent.
He surely has some documentation with his new address that altered around the time he moved out and you started your claim?
Eg his wage slips with the new address, or his passport, driving license??0 -
Who is paying the mortgage, and all the other bills (utilities etc)?0
-
He has carried on paying most of the bills mortgage etc as I was a student untill 3weeks ago and waiting to start a job in around 4-6 weeks,I never thought about this problem as I saw I was doing right cancelling the joint claim, all his details are still in my home address as he saw it it was his house and he was coming back once I move out!!!0

He didn't change anything into his mums address as it was a pits top to him we just never thought of the issue to be honest0

Oh dear - I really think you may be in the deep here then.
Surely his work has his change of address or someone? Is there no documentation that you have to show this?
Or how about money paid into your account or maintenance - or contact via a soliticitor?
Or another thought - Do you have children at school? Maybe ask the school to provide proof he changed his address 13 months ago - maybe they'd accept a report from the school as you would have informed them I assume?0 -
What about the electoral register? Where is he registered?0

I have tried that, I called the local council when he left and I had to give them his forwarding address to take him off mine, tax credits have checked for me but he isn't registered there
its such a horrible situation

He hasn't changed anything our lives basically went on hold when he left, as he pays some of the the bills mortgage etc he can't afford to give me money also for the children but I think he has to be fair paid more than he needed to keep us with a roof over our heads, We were so down and in such a mess mentally nothing was ever changed, as it was always understood it was his house and he let me stay until my study ended, which is now!!0

Just a thought, was his mother living on her own before he moved in? If so, she'd have had the single person 25% council tax discount, in which case she'd have had to tell the council when he moved in with her otherwise she'd have been fradulently getting the single person discount.
Also if he has a car he'd have had to tell the insurers his change of address otherwise the insurance wouldn't be valid.
So look into these, which could count in your favour. Though if he was paying all the bills eg gas/electric etc in your house this would go very much against you as it implies you've not "split", as you're still financially linked even if he lives elsewhere. .0 -
His parents are elderly early 80s so they are pension age, both his parents live there, I'm not sure why he hasn't been put in the electrol roll there!! No all his insurance still comes to my address
I'm stuffed basically and not my fault, he sees it as its his house his bills and didn't see why he should have to change things, I can to some extent see his point, but when people have children it does happen with finances bills etc.... X
