Hi DFW,
Just wanted to stop by and say a big congratualtions in becoming Debt Free! And a huge thank you from me for your inspiration.
I've been reading the diaries (without having sigined up to MSE forums myself) and it's given me the extra motivation i needed to really focus hard on getting my finances in order.
I can see how much the diaries have helped you along with all the challenges so have now signed myself up in the hope of doing the same
Thanks again and look forward to reading your DF posts!

Afternoon DFW,
Hope the big shop goes/has gone well!! Was the parcel the breadmaker?
Re the bookbag, this is the 3rd year DD1 has had hers and she will continue with it until it looks tatty (hopefully forever ha!). DD2's is new this year with her just going into reception, but again she will be reusing year after year!
Oohhh I like the flylady thing, might have to have a nosey at that xxMummytogirls x0 -

Half-hour ironing. On the thread look at the very top and it explains the acronyms.
By the way, if you want a really really good recipe for veggie lasagne...lentil lasagne I made yesterday was absolutely delicious, served 6 really good-sized one-person ready-meal size portions and I couldn't tell it was lentils as it tasted exactly how my Mum makes meaty ones (and her lasagne is amazing). Recipe is on my meal plan.
Oh yes please to the recipe! I will have a look on your meal planner later when I get 10 minutes peace :rotfl: and thanks for the HHI! LOL I even read all the acronyms earlier, I am the worst for skim reading:o

TMDI'm still so happy! It's like when you get married you don't think it will really change how you feel but it really does if that makes sense? I honestly feel like a weight has been lifted and I no longer have to explain to anyone why I would like £20 extra in the petrol budget or £30 to pay for pocket money for ds1
it's nice to be able to do what we want with our money for once :T

Well this morning turned into a road trip! I went to the post office which is way out of the way of anywhere, which then confused me as to where I needed to be next and what was nearest to where I was
(really honestly my brain has gone to mush
) ...so I then went onto the rrange as ds1 needed pencil cases & folders. I asked him last week 'ds1 do you need anything for school so I can shop around, get a bit of cashback, wait for postman to arrive with it all and generally not rush around?' DS1 replied 'no mum i'm all good' wonderful. Not. This morning (one day before he is due back) he comes to me with a list.. So £20 later in the range and we still haven't got it all and they don't stock it all!!!!!! SO we head off to a1di which is next along the road. Bit of a nightmare as it was 'stock the shelves day' and there were trolley cages everywhere. Which ds2 took upon himself as a challenge that must be taken. A challenge of climbing every blo0dy trolley along the way (ya know the 6ft odd ones *rolls eyes* ) everytime I put him in the trolley he was supposed to be in- the one i'm pushing- i'd turn my back to get something and he'd !!!!!!!g climbed out again! It didn't help that everyone was laughing at him, he thought he was on to a winner and carried on :wall:. We get to the tills, I ask the cashier 'please split the shopping when it gets to £40 as I have vouchers' so we stop at £40 I present vouchers to her and she goes 'oh no i was supposed to scan these at the same time as the products I thought you just had a five pound off voucher not the half price/50p off ones' :doh:so we void them off and as we're doing so DS2 is knocking over all the plants by the tills, DD has disappeared and DS1 is moaning about being hungry. I then lose the vouchers and nearly cry at the till.
We eventually sorted it all out in a round about way and I got out in one piece, just. Then we had to go to staples to carry on shopping for school stuff
£40 later and we were done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shopping :
£20 Range
£40 Staples
£90 ald1 (this was good I got tonnes :T)
That was just the shopping part of the day.
Then after lunch I got my cleaning hat on and went upstairs, gutted my room, kids room and changed sheets/duvets on beds, polished and hoovered. Then did hallway, stairs and started on downstairs. Then the hoover broke. OF Course! Why not?! I took it apart covering myself in dust in the process, took it all upstairs where I had just hoovered and washed it all out in the shower, I put the shower head down the hose and put on the strongest jet spray we have, thinking that will clear the blockage, but no the water got stuck, the water then fought against going in the hose, I dropped it all and covered myself in dirt the shower went wild all over the bath soaking everything in sight, me included and well it was just a disaster!!!!!! I gave up took it downstairs in garden to dry and cleaned the living room floor with the dustpan and brush ....my day is not going too well :rotfl:
I've got my new breadmaker on making a fruit loaf, i'm not sure i'm using it right though as the instructions were a little sketchy? And given the day i've had it wouldn't surprise me if it is a disaster too! I'll let ya know thoughI've made two lots of washing up powder and dishwasher & washing machine have been on twice today. I've tonnes more in the house to do but I think I might leave it until later or tomorrow now as my back is hurting again
!
Kids shoes, bags and uniforms are all laid out ready for tomorrow. Hurry up Tuesday!!!!!!!MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06.
