Dont let Bailiffs break in to your property

What happens if they break in to my house and my dog bites them thinking they are a burglar? Would i be prosecuted? Or if something other than what they claim they have taken, goes missing? Or if something is damaged? The list is endless and the implications are massive. And yet some knucklehead that we pay thousands of £'s a year to in wages, has sat and dreamt this up thinking it's a good thing !!!!!!!0

Let me ask people here something. Should there be any circumstances in which bailiffs should be able to enter your home uninvited and break in?
Remember what's being proposed here is an extension of existing powers - bailiffs already can do everything short of actually breaking in (eg they can open unlocked outer doors and break down internal doors), and in the case of enforcing fines and council tax, are allowed to break in.0 -
I've signed it.
I can't believe they're proposing this, bailiffs already have far too many powers."It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves" (Sir Edmund Hillary)

We must take a stand against this, as not only are they being given permission to break in but to also restrain people.
What sort of country are we becoming when this is allowed?
Pete bardsley is the man who is defending our rights on this so we must give him our support.0 -

I agree. Is Martin going to pick up on this one? - if he does and it's in his weekly email, there's the potential for loads more signatures.0 -

You're right - it's bizarreAnd even if there's only one person in the household, how do they know it's 'your' stuff - what if the tv is rented for example and you come back to find it gone!
I am fortunate never to have had dealings with bailiffs, and I hope I never will. However, if this bill does through I ever find myself in this situation and at risk of them breaking in like this, I think I'd remove any valuables and store them elsewhere.
How much power do they have to go through your stuff? I once discovered a builder had been through some of my personal things, which creeped me out and I felt a bit like I'd been burgled. Do bailiffs have the right to rummage through your drawers (literally!)?0 -
Glad to see this up
