arent we all equal ? or are some MORE equal than others?

I think that the very point this thread is making is that we are NOT all equal! If we were, we could all share the same undesignated parking spaces. Unfortunately people are not equal -- some cannot walk easily or at all, some are less stable on their feet, some are incontinent or have other hidden disabilities. Treating people equally fails to take into account the fact that people are different. Shouldn't different people be treated differently?

I wouldn't expect someone to give up their seat for me on the bus... but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't give up a seat to someone who needs it just because I'd be treating them as I would like to be treated.

Instead of treating people equally and forcing them to deal with difficulties equally regardless of their health concerns (such as a long walk from the car park to the shops, or being forced to stand on a bus journey), wouldn't it be better to treat people as individuals and provide specific assistance to those who need it?

Yes our disabilities are all different I was born with Renal reflux which lead to kidney failure, it is only in the last few years that I need a blue badge.
The number of time I have seen elderly in this posting, enough that I began to think there is some dislike?? It is a fact of life that we all get older, thing do wear out as we do. I don't have a limp & like to wear nice clothes & have my hair done, it keeps my spirits up as I am well aware that downhill is my future.
I have been challenged as you may imagine, I suggest they take my badge details & challenge it officially.
When I have my hair done my husband drop me right outside the salon, picking me up he parks in the disabled place outside & comes in to collect me & yes he can still run. (Another point of view?):rotfl:
