It's like my Skoda radio having a phone button, last century it was called a mute button.

My car has climate and an eco button that switches off air con pump. I think the Audi /VW have an eco button on cars with manual A/C that does the same.
Google gives you answers use it.........

Quite badly labeled too because it could encourage people to drive whilst on the phone and press the 'phone button' to mute the stereo. Just my logic anyway :P

It's probably the salesmans way of wriggling out of fixing the aircon that is probably faulty.

I'd avoid an A2 at all costs. Hateful things! Why do you think Audi binned them off?!

I am surprised that you consider A2's to be hateful things. Most of the owners reviews for the A2 (1.4TDI) consider it to be the best car they have ever owned.
Perhaps Audi binned them because they were running at a loss making them due to their aluminum body construction.

Audis with Climate Control also had an Econ mode, which I believe turns the AC off and just regulates the temperature using the blowers without conditioning. That's what it appears to do on my A3 at least!

Eco, short for ecconomy, saves you fuel etc by not using the AC...for info, you cant beat actual AC, and econ is just like having no air conditioning, thus only useful when it's not particularly warm outside!

The A2 is the one car I still wish I had. It was binned because it was ahead of its time in terms of construction technique which made it pricy, but it had some great features.

A bonnet you didn't need to open to check and top up levels, back seats you could remove from the car making it great for lugging stuff about, frugal 3 cylinder diesel engine.

It was far superior to the original Merc A class, but unfortunately sold far fewer.

The build quality was shocking. The ride was terrible. And a VW Polo was much better (with the same 1.4 TDi 3 pot).

And the Polo was cheaper too.

Anyway, auto climate control is much better.

Though I stil see people driving about with the ECON button lit up. Yet they drive with the sunroof/windows open.

So the lag out weighs the "saving"
