What is "Econ"?

Any idea what "Econ" is? Been looking for an Audi A2 with air-conditioning for a while found a car locally but the sales man is saying it's fitted with econ and not air-con??

hmmmm, my old Peugeot 206 had climate control with econ mode, it meant that the air con/climate control was turned off so it was just fans.

It's effectively the same thing, Audi were/are just cashing in on the idiots want everything to have "eco or green" plastered all over it. Not because they care, but because it can be used as an excuse for the "more money than sense" extravagance of buying a new car. Having Ecosomething is more socially acceptable.

Most (if not all) climate control systems will have a "Econ" mode which simply switches of the aircon compressor allowing the car to be cooled by the ambient air. There is, however a difference between aircon and climate control and perhaps this is what the salesman was getting at.

Nah, i'd guess that the salesman has no idea what the econ button does/means so is just making some rubbish up to make it sound like he knows.

pretty lax from the salesman really. He should be making a point of the fact that this car has not just air con, but climate control.

My Audi A3 has climate control, there is no button marked 'ECO' or 'ECON', but there is an A/C on/off button.
