I suppose it is the extras added on for this or that you have to watch out for, I like cheap but some bargains can have a real sting in the tale, which is too late if you are already there an find out afterwards, so thanks for the warnings.moneysavvy35 wrote: »Hello All
I do always do my costings for Butlins Hols as we know its never actually the £9.50/£15.00.
I have done the calculations based on my own personal costings (this year its myself & 5 children) but you can play with the figures yourself and see what the price of your break will actually be......
 So here goes....
1 Adults - Who will pay the charges and stuff -
 15.00 - Cost of Hols
 26.85 - Service Charge - 3days @ 8.95
 12.00 - Entertainment Pass
 10:00 - Bedding
 40.50 - Half Board - 3days @ 13:50
 104.35 - Total
 Other Adults
 15.00 - Cost of Hols
 12.00 - Entertainment Pass
 10.00 - Bedding
 40.50 - Half Board - 3 days @ 13.50
 77.50 - Total
 1 Child
 15.00 - Cost of Hols
 12.00 - Entertainment Pass
 20.25 - Half Board - 3 days @ 6.75
 10.00 - Bedding
 57.25 - Total
I think I covered everything. If I've left anything out, feel free to add. (I bloody hope I haven't ) )
Just make sure you over budget as Butlins can become VERY expensive with other activities you may want to do that are not free.:eek:0

I'm wondering whether the £10 charge per person for bedding is for guest staying in Standard. On reading the extras required this is what they say on the sheet. However, I have only stayed Silver and they charged £12 per unit rather than per person. Also I read on another thread when you stay Silver the beds are already made up so technically don't need to pay that £12, so in my case I have asked Butlins to take that off. So anyone using this please omit the £10.00 per person in your calculations if you are staying Silver. Again I cannot speak for Standard Accomadation.
Their is also a thread that says you do not need to purchase the entertainment passes either, but I can't endorse that 1 - yet!!:D0

ok - i am just bumping this up so i can research to cost of booking Butlins through the sun deals....
can anyone confirm you don't need ents passes at Skegness?
we would also take off linen...
but we would want self catering not half board as we NEED a fridge...
it seems only half board is available in this round of promotion for dates i want but i scared to book that in case you get room only...
has anyone any more experience of booking via the sun deal and then taking half board off? do you get just a room?

If it's only a fridge that you need they have hire shops you can hire them from, not sure how big they are though or some people bring them with them if it's just for milk or medicines.
We recently returned from Butlins not on a sun deal but a last minute one and we didn't have entertainment passes this time, BUT we have had them on the odd occasion, mainly if it's Easter, Halloween or one of the Christmas fantasy weekends and we've needed to make sure we all had one to get into the shows and entertainment during the day/night. Never needed one on a normal break though!~ What's for you, won't go past you! ~0

Having been to butlins bognor quite a few times I have only started doing the sun promotions recently. Once I got my confirmation through I asked them to take off the bedding & entertainment passes which I did - then the final bill was sent through. I did have concerns re the entertainment passes.
I can only speak for myself here but I wasn't issued with any passes - I even went to guest services for them to verify what I already knew - they did confirm to me "we don't issue them anymore" - "oh! so how do I go swimming or watch the shows" - "just show your room key - thats all you need" and this was all that I needed. As stated I did have concerns beforehand but people on here said they took it off and it wasn't a problem. In the end I decided to do it as well and it was all good.
The worst case scenario is that you pay for them when you get thier - thats all. This was for Bognor - I have read also skegness are the same. although I can't say for sure. Take a chance and like another poster said - rent a fridge. unless you do want catering facilities then probably standard would be your best bet....0

ok - i in this round of dates i could only find half board at Butlins for any of my dates (and the dates i found 25th match were my last choice of dates.....as would have to kids out of school for 4 days)...
so i decided not to book BUT i will try and book Butlins again in future promotions so thanks for your advice.
Is self catering acccom ever available at Butlins with these sun / daily mail deals? I think really self catering would be best for us for our first time at Butlins and then after that we can judge if half board might work in future.

I have booked Bognor for May next year and I'm wondering about the entertainment passes too...... should I buy them or not (I'd rather spend the money on upgrading) ??? I know you deff don't need them at Skegness if thats a help to anyone x0
