I dont blame you for not wanting to cook. Neither would i .esp with 5 ankle biters. Hang on 5kids x 3 days x 3 meals a day=45 pot noodles. (buy 50 incase of snacks)haha. Although getting a little better Full Board or All inclusive in the UK is still no where near other parts of the world price and value. We in the uk want to make big profit on everything we provide in Europe & esp around Caribbean are happy making a profit from your stay and can break even with food and drink = profit. Enjoy butlins i have soo many good memories from my days at butlins with my brothers as kids. hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

extras include things like go-karting, archery, mini golf - again its only optional expensive extras if you CHOOSE to use them. I will choose to use them as my lot like them + they also like those expensive arcade machines - I'm not complaining though guys - its all meant to be fun isn't it? Anyway the cost has gone down slightly as it seems they've charged 1 set figure of £12.00 for bedding for the whole 6 bed apartment :j so total figure for all of us is now £342.60 inc food.
They have included the price of entertainment passes - which I will buy as looking through previous posts it seems that bognor regis is a site that regulary checks that you have them.
@ artichoke - what you do is very commendable and I may consider s/c next time as I want to try somewhere different like Haven, but as you can imagine with 5 kids in tow I would constantly be in the kicthen either cooking, cleaning or washing up - no thanks!! do these self catering breaks do dish washers in the caravans - ps don't drive. 0 do these self catering breaks do dish washers in the caravans - ps don't drive. 0

well i can see that not driving would make buying the ready meals and taking food from home a bit more difficult.
We stay in a basic caravan that does not have a dishwasher BUT the kids wash up as it is a novelty as we use the dishwasher at home.
They wash up and get paid in copper for the amusements.
If you did do Haven and want to cook in the van though i would recommend getting tesco / asda to deliver to the van which they do on some sites.
Also buying the pizza's from the site shop, is still cheaper than eating out.
For us cooking in the van rather than eating out has been because we have been really skint and just can not afford to eat out.
We went to Haven at Easter for 7 nights and took £100 cash and that was all we had to last the week. As well as the £100 cash the kids had their money boxes with lots of copper in them but not more than 8 quid or so each.
BUT we took all our food from home, and then bought bread and milk daily from the onsite shop. We had a good time even though we did not spend much money.
The kids were fantastic we had told them in advance we had no cash ( i have just started a new job and had not been paid when we went). We gave the kids £10 each out of the £100 and told them they could spend it on what they liked - DD came home with £2 left an DS came home with £4 which they will take back to haven thorpe park when we go in june.

How old are you kids moneysavvy? We went Easter BH w/end with our children aged 12 and 9. The younger one was fine, joined club red for 9-12 year olds and went to just about every session, which were all free except the one she went to where she printed a t-shirt which cost £5. Happy with the rides she could go on at the fair and with going swimming.
The 12yo was a diff story though, wouldn't join the same club as 'everyone will be younger than me' wasn't old enough to join the teen club. Liked the go-karts @ £5 a time. Didn't want to go and see the Sceince show, cos he 'hated queueing'. He was disappointed that hisf avourite ride had been removed from the fair. We paid for a pass that he could get 1 go each of climbing wall, laser quest and go kart which knocked a couple of £s off. Swimming pool, part of it had closed due to them re-furbing/extending - unsure when that is finished - meant he couldn't go on a slide he'd prev loved, so he spent a lot of time wasting money in the slot machines trying to win the tickets you can change for prizes. He 'won' over 2,000 but there was barely any merchandise aimed at his age group. He also won a huge cuddly toy with £20 attached on one machine - the cash ended up back in the machines!! We weren't helped by the poor weather and the ill-health of my Grandma who was a lot more mobile when I booked the break in September last year than she is now. If we'd been able to be out and about I don't think the slot machines would have been as much of an attraction. We go self catering, but usually pay to eat in one of the buffet restaurants for 1 night. You can just keep going up if youw ant more or something else. Never tried the breakfasts, but guess it would set you up for the day.0

Well I myself have 3 boys adged 8, 11 & 16. My 16yrs decided he dosen't wanna come which is fair enough as he had been outgrowing it for a few years now - he came to see if their were any girls last time but didn't many so he's giving it a miss this year. but didn't many so he's giving it a miss this year.
So I'm taking my 2 younger boys and my 3 niece and nephews boys are 11 & 9 and my niece is 9 so all in the same age group. Brought 2 of them last year and loved every minute of it - still going on about it now so thought I would bring them again this year and this time add my other nephew along too as he missed out last time.
I'm hoping the weather will be good so maybe we can hang out on the beach - they didn't wanna go out last time - to much to do inside. being boys they love the football coaching - they loved the swimming too I think the buffet is the biggest draw cause they are all extremely greedy
We find we don't need to spend much on food cause we eat a big breakfast (even sneak out some rolls n fruit shhhhhhhhh!!) then theyre having so much fun they hardly remember dinner - then they may have a burger for something later on around 8-9ish if theyre still hungry.
I agree those slot machines & arcades are ridcoulous - I try to tell them theyre a waste of money but they don't wanna know - well they have thier set allowance for the day and once the moneys gone thats thier buisness.
All in all they all enjoy themselves and funny enough I find it a relaxing break as I leave them to it while I read or do whatever. Its like a little village in thier so I do feel safe letting them wander on their own a little and give themselves some independance - I hope everyone enjoys thier break wherever they decide to go.0

I'm going to Butlins in the standard accom, will I get pillows and duvets but not sheets and pillow cases? I don't want to pay £12 for just covers, they won't take up much room in my car!0

If anyone is interested and wants to compare prices with any offers that you may get from Butlins directly. I've just come across my bill from our hol easter w/end. We went Fri 6th (Good Friday) to Mon 9th (Easter Mon) so bare in mind it was in school hols and a long BH, but still not at a 'good' (ie summer) time of year. We stopped in 3 bedroom Silver accomodation self catering, and it was £355.
The bill was made up like this
 accomodation 770.00
 ground floor 10.00
 total 780.00
 50% off brochure price - 385.00
 Internet exculsive extra £40 off - 40.00
 Holiday Cost 355.00
The request to have ground floor was due to an 88 yo in our party, so without it £345. Bearing in mine we then bought all our food, I don't think moneysavvy's price which includes half board for 6 is expensive.0

Savvys price wasnt expensive but for a 3 night stay it works out as not a cheap weekend . As yours does too. As a example i own a 2bed s/c lodge on a fairly popular country holiday park (sleeps six) Half term week 02/06-09/06 inc all the jubilee celebrations ,a very good strongman comp, A pool /clubhouse (free) park . small arcade plus lots more sold it a while ago for £380. Thats what it was advertised for £380 and sold £380 I know how many people are in this but it wouldnt matter its £380 . I get confuddled when people say £15 Holidays daily mail or £9 with The Scum when its clearly not . Look out for private sellers who are cheaper than this through owners direct etc(or other sites) or are willing to cut a deal to stay out of season for a great price and a summer break for less than butins can do. I have a friend on Haven and with so many "deals" going by and haven filling this space for them . They will get a percentage of the let but not the extras. Soap box over.. Not trying to sell me BTW we are booked up until late sept . hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

I appreciate what you are saying but I gave the figures purely so other people could see the difference between whether a Sun break to Butlins compares against booking directly with offers Butlins may run. I came across the bill last night whilst tidying up some paperwork and was on the verge of throwing away but decided to post the costs here first.
For us it's not been about finding an alternative cheaper. It's been about taking my elderly Grandmother away with me and my husband and our 2 children, something we've done for the past 11 years since she was widowed. As time has gone on and grandmother has become older and less mobile and kids have grown up and become more mobile. we've had to change the hols frequently, to somethign that is suitable for all of us, so though at first she came away with us long haul for a fortnight, that then changed to a week European, then when it became too much for her to go on our 'main' holiday, we changed to having an additional break and started with Center parcs Midweek, followed by Weekend center parcs diff one - where the lodges wasn't as far a walk and then when that also became too much we changed to Butlins 2 years ago because we could run the car up and down, and it still had plenty to offer for the extremes in ages we take with us. This time Nan was a lot less able on her legs than even she'd realised, so we needed to hire a wheelchair. Not a problem to us, but she felt we hadn't gone on holiday to 'push her around' and i detailed my 12yo's 'outgrowing' of the place in an earlier post, so I think it was likely to be our very last visit as I don't believe Nan would want to go again and we already have our main hol each year, usually abroad. This year we go to Duinrell.0

Nice story of life makes you think as they are growing up one end .They are slowing down at the other. Looks like for the next few years, prop her up at the bar and visit her a few times a day. Sorted. I was trying to show that the £9 or £15 per person per night is very difficult to get and if they had one price to work from people would be happier. A family i know booked a long weekend away at Butlins for just over £280 recently which worked out @ over £23 pppn for a £9.50 The Scum holiday . I even ask why they didnt want to book ours .He said "it was only £9.50 a night" plus the extras. That long weekend was £10pppn with no extras with us. (Or just plain old £120 for 3 nights)
Good luck with any future hols with your family & nan:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0
