Hello All

I do always do my costings for Butlins Hols as we know its never actually the £9.50/£15.00.

I have done the calculations based on my own personal costings (this year its myself & 5 children) but you can play with the figures yourself and see what the price of your break will actually be......

So here goes....

1 Adults - Who will pay the charges and stuff -
15.00 - Cost of Hols
26.85 - Service Charge - 3days @ 8.95
12.00 - Entertainment Pass
10:00 - Bedding
40.50 - Half Board - 3days @ 13:50
104.35 - Total

Other Adults
15.00 - Cost of Hols
12.00 - Entertainment Pass
10.00 - Bedding
40.50 - Half Board - 3 days @ 13.50
77.50 - Total

1 Child
15.00 - Cost of Hols
12.00 - Entertainment Pass
20.25 - Half Board - 3 days @ 6.75
10.00 - Bedding
57.25 - Total

I think I covered everything. If I've left anything out, feel free to add. (I bloody hope I haven't :))
Just make sure you over budget as Butlins can become VERY expensive with other activities you may want to do that are not free.

you could contact them telling you don't require the bedding it's 2 sheets and pillow cases, they don't change the quit cover every time... that could save £10 per head

    :eek::eek:So if my calculations are correct for your party its 1x £104.35 & 5x £57.25 = £390.60 for 3 nights:eek::eek:
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world
  • Yes....I no:eek: but it averages out to 65.00pp which I think is fairly reasonable - don't you? + you gotta b smart - we always get up their for about 10.30 on the Friday and store our bags, then we leave about 5ish on the Monday. So I try to get our money's worth.

I paid for midweeks in the past and realised doing the weekend but getting their early an leaving late is a cheaper option.

This is only the 2nd time I've done it through the sun....would you say this is not such a good deal? I think what bumps it up is half board but I'm in that group of people that can't b arsed to cook anything. :D

I beg to differ. I've been to Centerparcs, and it's FAR more expensive than Butlins, lots of things cost £30 a head.

We went there for 3 days, we paid for food (Burger King, £2 king of the day deal, fish and chips, not expensive, you don't have to go half board? cereal and milk for breakfast), drinks, reasonably priced, and I think the only thing we paid extra for was £5 for a go on the go-karts.

btw, I don't see that it's particularly cheap, we paid £120 for 3 nights in the hotel at Bognor, that came with a free archery session and a fridge (for beer!) No food, but it seems that for 4 the cost is:

£37 * 4 (bedding, entertainment pass, £15 deal) + £26.85 = £175. Which is more than they were charging for the top floor balcony rooms in the hotel, which are a lot nicer than whatever rundown old chalet they are doing through The Sun.
  • Yes I hear all what your saying.....but as I said its the price of the half board that's bumping up the price otherwise it would be about 37.00. Which would be even better for my pocket, but I'm choosing to pay for the luxury of not cooking, and if u read my original post I'm not complaining about it cause it's a choice I'm making - those go karts, archery, mini golf, arcades, is what bumps up the price. But I will budget these in. The chalets we've had are not luxury but they do us jus fine.

£13.50 for half board seems expensive for me - i would rather save my money for activities for the kids.

However everyone is different and everyones idea of what makes a holiday is unique to them.

For me - i usually cook from scratch at home - so bunging ready made things into the oven of a caravan does not count as cooking..

so what i do on these holiday is buy ''ready meals" which is something i would never do at home..

    we usually have

a large lasagne, with garlic bread, and a bag of salad usually can all be bought for £10 and does our family of 4

a curry night - ie those banquet boxes - plus extra sides - often i take a frozen HM curry from home -and buy the extra sides and starters

a chinese night - usually we have a crispy duck with pancakes and whatver chinese starters / stir fry is on offer and i take marinated spare ribs frozen from home

pizza night - even if you buy these on site it is cheaper than £13.50 and its hardly cooking to just bung in the oven..

if its a 4 night break pasta and a ready made sauce is another easy option

breakfast is cereal and a fry up ..

I am looking forward to doing butlins one day...

i thought all the activities were free once you got in there and that is why it is seen as better than Haven? what are you saying you have to pay for?
