Christening gift

They're not but she asked for 'something different from the usual gifts that will be given'. Usual Christening gifts are something silver or a Bible. I actually like the candle stick holder idea, as something relevant to the baptism and that can still be used later on in life.I don't really see what most of these presents has to do with a baptism or being a Godparent.
If you like the idea of jewellery, a chain with a cross or St Christopher would be suitable for either a boy or a girl.0 -

Are they a Christian family? If so this site has lots of gifts to help families share their faith with their children which would make useful and inspiring baptismal presents.

I especially like the prayer cards which explore using things like lego, playdoh and bubbles to pray - lots of fun!
It might be a more quirky alternative to a children's bible/Prayer book and you could team it with a keepsake/savings.
Yea he will be christened into the Roman Catholic church. Will have a look on that site, thanks.0 -

My Godmother, so very many years ago, had a little mug made for me by local artisan potter - on one side was an imprint of my sunsign (Gemini) and on the other, my birthdate and a lovely inscribed message from her to me. Sadly it was dropped some years ago whilst still in my parents house - but I know how much I treasured it and how personal it was, to me.0

How about this. It's a 100 year diary that initially the parents fill in and then as the child gets older, they can take over. I like it :-)

As godparent I would really get something related to the christening/christianity. Probably a Bible, that's what I got my godson. A nice inscribed one with his name.
Then I laid down a case of port for him that he can dip into on his 18th/21st/wedding. Not cheap but my brothers godfather did it for him and it has been lovely to share in that port over the years. Then it also gives you obvious presents for when he's older and a bit more difficult - 18th = port glasses 21st - decanter0 -
I bought my god daughter a keepsake set - a set of little boxes that will contain the first curl they have cut off, the first tooth that they lose and their birth tag. You can get lots of different ones and have them personalised.0
