Cillit bang do a lime and grime stuff which is mean't to be good. If it's not coming off with the harpic and the vinegar have you tried scraping it off with a piece of plastic, other end of a blunt razor blade I tend to use (but cover the blade up first just incase)

TY lil_me.. I've give that a go.. I tried scraping it with a spoon but it wouldn't budge!! It has built up over years and years of leaky tap so I know it won't shift easily!

Today I did one of the most horrible, stinky, smelly jobs on earth.

Explain: the shed is built onto the kitchen. The two are seperated by a brick wall. The water drain from the kitchen comes out into an open drain in the shed. it is covered with a barred lid. The wm empties onto it as well.

Today, I just accidentally peeked into it and nearly had a fit.

There was only a tiny whole left for the water to run through.. the rest was clogged up by greasy sticky gooo!!

So,on came the rubber gloves and I scooped most of the goo out.. boy was that GROSS!!!! STINKY!!!!

it was all grease, and soap I guess..
Well, I cleaned it out as best I could... tipped a whole bottle of cillit bang in it in the end, followed by 20 litres of boiling water. (good thing having a big family, I've got HUGE cooking pots!)

It looks alright now, but I dread to think what's collected in the pipe that runs underneath the house. I am already very careful about pouring grease down the drain. What can I do to help keep that muck down to a minimum?

    Anybody got any idea's?

    Question scrubbers...

HOW do I get the limescale dribbles out of the inside of the enamel bath?? Vinegar didn't work and neither did harpic!!

One thing that definitely won't work is a limescale remover such as Viakal - it eats away the enamel - did this at my old house  and made a real mess of the bath because I hadn't read the instructions properly.

Have you tried a brand new green scourer or the back of a new scrubby sponge with some cream cleaner and plenty of elbow grease?

Is the green hammerite that you wish to strip on the outside of the bath? I'm intrigued at the thought of a bath with it on the inside!

No much flying here today - let the puppy off the lead this morning (has happened before but never on my own) and it took me 40 mins to get him back he wasn't going far just thought that it was a game running away - he has slept for the rest of the day though - has thrown out my morning when I planned to do soo much!

Spent the rest of the morning catching up on my click through / cashback sites and surveys.

    So today I managed -

Kitchen and hallway / entrance porch. Toilet hasn't been touched today so hoping to add it to tomorrows list.

Weather for tomorrow is to be good so should get all the bedding washed, dried and back on.

    My list for tomorrow
    1. [STRIKE]Master Bedroom - change bedding, hoover bed & underneath, put away all clean washing[/STRIKE]
    2. [STRIKE]Clean toilet[/STRIKE]
    3. [STRIKE]Check bulbs and add to this weeks shopping list[/STRIKE]
    4. [STRIKE]Check fire alarm[/STRIKE]
    5. [STRIKE]Prune roses and start to weed veg patch[/STRIKE]

    Hope all well, night night

Soda crystals sluiced down regularly should help to keep it running free. It costs about 52p a kilo from Tesco, so it's a cheap solution (pardon the pun :rotfl:). You can also buy some enzymatic drain cleaning stuff from B&Q, which I've used to unblock my sinks in the house. It's a brown powder which breaks down grease into harmless substances. It's more expensive, and Customs might be intrigued by the contents of your package as it comes across to Holland!

Yes the hammerite is on the outside of the bath.. and the feet.. and it looks horrible.. the woodwork was all painted bright neon pink, the walls lavendar and the radiator, outside of the bath and the sink brackets were green hammerite!! It is finally taking shape though!

I think I tried a scrubby pad, but it won't hurt to try again I guess.

    Thanks
