Sleeping at Stansted Airport

Hi all,
The gate for my flight closes at 6.00am on Thursday morning. I have to make my way from Bath with public transport, so it looks like as if I have to stay the night at the airport, I do not want to spend extra money on hotels.
Anyone experience with that, is it possible to lay there somewhere down? Is it possible to check in the night before the flight so that I can sleep at the gates or is this for security reasons not possible?
Many thanks for any useful tips!

Does not sound too good I have to say ... Does anyone know when the Security Check in opens? Would like to go to the lounge at 4.00am and
enjoy there breakfast.
So either I arrive there at 1.30am and stand around for 3 hours until the security check in opens or I try to arrive early around 10pm to get a bench and relax the night on this one ...0 -
There are pletny of places to sleep on the floor out of the way and there is always plenty doing so at STN. Food & retail shops do not open in departure lounge until 5am, may be different before you go through security but unsure on this.Look after your own money... nobody else will!!:D0

I arrived from Kualar Lumpur last year, about nine at night, and left about eight the next day, to London. It was fine. I got to section K about ten pm. and one of the rare benches you can lie down on, but didn't feel like sleeping. So I had a sandwich in Spar, then just a coffee in Costa (ugh, horrible taste, don't have the latte) and made it last four hours (easy as I didn't like it).
It wasn't the best time of my life but worth it for the saving.0 -

Brilliant:rotfl::rotfl:
Now I'm all for saving a little bit money - but I just could not even contemplate having to sleep in an airport out of choice.0 -
Maybe I have then an interesting story to tell to. I will be arriving at the airport @ 3am, which is not so bad I guess when the plane leave @ 6am.
Even if I get a room, probably there would be no way to sleep and I would need to get up at 3am latest anyway to get to Stansted from London City....0 -

Maybe I would have in my youth but now I consider that my personal comfort is worth spending some money on. There's Holiday Inn Express at Stansted which you can usually get for £40-50 a night. I'd just plan on getting there early the previous evening, having some dinner then an early night - before setting the alarm for the next morning.
Then again, if I had to spend a night anywhere it would probably be STN as it's virtually a 24 hour airport anyway as it has a lot of very early departures.0 -
Poundland is the answer, buy one of their pink Li-lo's (for £1) and have a good night's sleep in the airport.
Ps. Don't forget to set the alarm.0 -
Arrive around 1.30am for a flight departing at 6am......thats check in from 4/4.30 am.........how horrendous......how could anyone be expected to hang around an airport for up to 3 hours........much better to book into a hotel at £50 and have a hearty breakfast for £10 then leave the hotel at around 4.30am after a good nights sleep (i dont think so)..........thats what i call moneysaving.Political?....I dont do Political....well,not much!0
