Why £50 ?there's a travelodge nearby £19 is worth it -often £50 wouldn't be to some.

Only time I've found a £50 airport hotel to be worth it was Yotel at Gatwick-out the door into the terminal and literally steps to the check in desk (I actually checked in early and then grabbed coffee and a danish and went back to my room for a shower and breakfast with Sky news and my laptop before strolling through security. )

I am not disagreeing with your views, but just for information the travelodges at both Stansted and Gatwick are a fair distance away and would require taxis there and back which would add considerably to the cost.

Also the travelodge cheapies are not always available particularly nearer the time.

Does not sound too good I have to say ... Does anyone know when the Security Check in opens? Would like to go to the lounge at 4.00am and
    enjoy there breakfast.

So either I arrive there at 1.30am and stand around for 3 hours until the security check in opens or I try to arrive early around 10pm to get a bench and relax the night on this one ...

I don't know about Stansted but we always get early flights, you will probably find that the check in desks for your flight will open at 02:30 or 03:00 at the latest, of course this depends on where you are going and which Airline, but I doubt you will have to wait untill 4am for a 6am flight, check in times should be on your ticket.

I always try to book early flights (6am or earlier) to squeeze the most of of my travels - but in doing so accept that:

    a) I can't take public transport, unless I fancy an uncomfortable night at the airport - so it's either pay £50 for a cab and leave by 3am, or ask family very nicely :o
    b) that I will be incredibly tired and quite possibly disoriented by the following afternoon

It's always swings and roundabouts with travel.

  • I'm not sure what the OPs problem is, if the OP arrives at the airport at 10pm then it'll be a 5 hour wait, before check in, hardly a problem.

Believe what you like -No skin off my nose :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
International handbaggage allowances on scheduled flights are pretty generous. I can manage a long weekend in the US on handbaggage only-It's simply a matter of knowing how to pack.

Never stayed at the STN TL to be fair -Booked it once but AA did away with their STN flight so moved us to Heathrow which suited us better anyway we'd only booked STN for MS reasons as one of our tickets was a miles ticket.

Sorry just realized Antenna is a troll -hadn't seen his other posts before I replied-Posts reported now :)

Thats completely different to how I view it. Dirty clothes in hand luggage in a carrier bag are far preferable to them still being on my body before a long flight .....

"MoneySaving" means different things to different people. If the purpose of life was to spend as little money as possible, we'd never leave home and wouldn't dream of flying anywhere.

MoneySaving can also mean getting what you want for the best value price - and when it comes to travelling that often means a comfortable, stress free journey without sleeping on a airport floor.
