Thankyou~just wasn't sure if you actually meant we did sound safe~sorry!Just feeling all defensive :o
Might actually think of doing the side in fake grass you know...then literally keeping the lawn a dog free zone.
We did actually start a little planting patch where they planted sunflowers and a pear tree but the bloomin dogs dug it up:rolleyes:
Don't suppose anyone would know the rough cost of returfing 120 square metres of decent lawn?We got FIL to lay it last time but can't this time...so maybe would have to do it ourselves. Is it hard to do if you're useless as us?:p
Would we have to re-rotivate etc again...?

Hello Hay, I have same problem! this is a good post, I have got ideas from it myself! I think I will section bits of the garden too! I don't want to put up a dog run really. I have 3 lovely rotties, 2 are fairly new pups, rescues, 6 months and soooooo naughty!! They have actually eaten my spiky cactus' - luckily with no ill effect....I just found the empty pots...Its not just me who dresses them up for xmas then! I also make my cats a little party tea on bonfire night, they have sausages and cheese cubes on sticks, I take them off the sticks for them though! (child substitute for me!!!!) ha ha.

Seed the lawn although it will be 'delicate' for a while. Buy loose seed from Wilko - bag full cost me only about 70p

It started to grow after a week and needed cullting after 6 weeks.

EXCUSE me?And you know that because????Oh hang on i know...you know that because the Sun newspaper says so right?
I'll have you know my dogs are trained, attend classes, are insured, vaccinated, they are kept seperate from the kids unless supervised. We have fenced off areas so they can play seperately and safely. We have baby gates on the rooms and stairs and crates for the dogs too.The dogs are not fed near the kids, they don't have toys left out.Our dogs have been brought up with our kids and the dogs KNOW their place in our family...at the bottom~just like the kids respect our dogs space.Did you know that Staffies are called the "nanny dog" because they are so good with kids??Did you know they were second on the Kennel clubs list of dogs MOST suitable for family life??As for our Rottie she ADORES our children....the kids helpbrush them, wash them with us.They play in paddling pools together....they dressed them up at xmas for heavens sake.... WHY am I justifying myself to you?I get enough sheer ignorance on the street from people who think they "know" about dogs:mad: It drives me bloody nuts to have anyone think I'd risk my children in any way.I'm a 31 year old married woman who has spent her life around big dogs....bllleuuurrrghhhh !!!
Blimey I came on here looking for advice on GRASS not my dogs.

    there still animals though.

i just hope your attention doesent waver and there `animal insticts` dont allow them to do something that you will regret.

    anyway staying on topic lol

just concrete it all, then its easyer for the cleaning of the poo.

I have an almost similar problem. We have no kids but one Westie and late last year we paid a fortune to have the garden done. We had a nice slate section coz we had lashed out on a seat swing and had thought we could train doggie to do her business on that (the slate not the seat) - no such luck we have yellow circles on new lawn together with one complete bare patch.

We walk her as much as we can but its the early morning pee that does the damage. Hubby is sometimes up for work at 5 a.m and its too much to ask him to walk the dog first. Looks like we will be reseeding!

It is the first pee in the morning. Pour a pan of water on it to dilute it.

ahh I see...they're just animals. So I assume your reaction would have been the same if I'd said I had two labradors then?Or Pomeranians?
