Wages at supermarkets

Hi all, I have had a quick look in past posts but can't find anything.
Does anyone know how much you earn working at Tescos on the checkout (or any supermarket)
I am finding it very hard to get a job that fits around family life but think this job may be the answer for now. I am over 22 by the way.

Many thanks

I'm on Asda's checkouts & customer services & get £5.71 which increases to £5.88 on 1st April. I think stores in/near to London get more, but if on the old contract less. Anyone joining now will be on the new contract. Sainsbury's here get £5.55 as do Morrison's according to a poster at work (It could be abit more now) & Tesco £6.01 but I think it depends on department, Asda is the same no matter what department. Asda have a better discount card, both 10% but we get it sooner & can spend more, also we're more easy going to work for from what i've heard, but Tesco have the better uniform!

i get £5.55 at sainsburys which annoys me because i'm a supervisor (i get paid the same rate as those on tills) lol. However, it is going up to £6.20 in a few months time.

Or you could work for a merchandising company within Tescos such as MEM Retail and receive around £8.00 an hour but they don't get the 10% staff discount.

    Hi
Does it have to be the checkouts.
I've worked on the dairy (yoghurt cheese etc bit chilly though) and the non food (pots, pans, shampoo etc) in various supermarkets over the years.

You have more accesss to the markdowns if you're not stuck on a till. Much more moneysaving (obviously as long as its not against policy)

And theres usually overtime on offer

My husband is an instore baker for Sainsburys (has been a baker for 14yrs in total) and gets paid exactly the same as a baker who has only been doing if for a few months and who can't even do everything required such as work on the ovens or roll plant.

I've heard Lidls is the best paid supermarket job but don't know this for sure - is there anyone who works for Lidls can tell us?
